I would think the best time would be after they fruited. At least that's when I repotted mine and pruned. Although, I've repotted(not pruned)in November once, because the soil that the plant came in was staying SO wet...I was afraid I would lose it to root rot. IF the mix its in now has a lot of peat...you might want to change the soil to something more porous. Are you letting your tree fruit this year...If you are letting it fruit, then the best time is after harvest. If not you might be able to do it now since you live in Miami and your winter is pretty mild...but if we have another winter like we had last year, you will have to bring it inside the house when the nights get below 32 degrees. But to be on the safe side and get the best results I would wait till the weather is consistently warm to do any drastic pruning...for you April might be the best time. Just my opinion.

Fazli, also spelled fajri (in india i think) is a very large variety of mango, the seed husk was if i recall correctly about the size of my palm (7" x 4"). I can't remember where i read it but the trees are supposed to grow very tall, and the fruits are also very large. In bangladesh i believe it is referred to as the king of the mango. Much like (at least so i've come to believe) the karutha colomba in sri lanka. because the seed is monoembryonic (i believe that's the right word) i know that it will not be true to seed, but I chose to hope it turns out well and it should produce something in the next 2-3 years all things permitted and i'd like to see if it is disgusting or not :-D all of my mangos are from seed, unfortunately. someday i hope to buy a namdocmai and a lancitella, but for now the wintery north asks me to try out my skills growing potentially delicious mangos from seed. http://www.alibaba.com/product-free/233719602/Fazli_Mangoes.html http://www.thefinancialexpress-bd.com/more.php?news_id=137416&date=2012-07-22 I certainly have nothing against keeping you updated as it progresses, just let me know

Does pruning the tip of mango tree branch result in additional branches from that tip. Appreciate your assistance and ideas in pruning my mango tree in suburb of Los Angeles, CA. I have attached some photos for better understanding.
