Last summer's rose - still blooming

Just a photo to see if I remember how to do them. Totally forgotten how to do multiple pictures. Must be getting old. The lovely apricot David Austin's Grace. In the background is a magnificent climber (the red one) Amadeaus. Has flowered non stop since last September and is still going.

Lovely, T. I have one really prolific rose here, where I am in the sub-tropics, it's Meillands (Medilands) 'Seduction'. I also have one David Austin that grows and flowers almost as well (a red, I forget its name, will have to look it up) and am looking for others. Also your Amadeaus, that looks promising, I might go do a 'Google' on it and see if it'll grow in (US) zone 10. Nice show, and nice 'clean' bushes too - no blackspot, no aphids.

Hi Bill, Amadeaus is marvellous but lots of prickles, no perfume. I have just had to take out Climbing Peace and a beautiful climber called High Hopes, reason too prolific for me to handle, it grew 10 ft whilst you were looking at it. I am replacing them with Seduction, and the new Bold Seduction and Tequila Sunrise.

I admired her very much. She was the epitome of wisdom, tolerance, acceptance, kindness. A true appreciation for all of lifes gifts, the big and the small, always came across in her words here and always filled me with a sense of serenity and certainty. I didnt know her as well or as long as most of you, but I feel privileged to have had the chance to get to know her, to have shared our moments. I was reminded today of the beautiful poem her granddaughter wrote and how it moved me and I remember how tickled she was to know that I had read her granddaughter's poem and enjoyed it so much. Her pride and love for her family was always evident. Whenever I think of her, I see that picture of her lounging on her purple chair, a noble, serene, peace-filled, wise smile on her face...I will always think of her that way.... I too wish we could all be together right now... And Marian...Taryn & T are right...please don't feel bad. Your heart is filled with love as are your actions...we know that. Hugs Marian. My Rdr is bare now, but it's in a spot where it's not getting a lot of sun right now because of the angle of the sun. My roses in the front get tons of sun even now because my yard faces south. It's actually sunnier there now than in the summer because then the sun is overhead and the trees block some of it. I have lots of new growth on most of my roses out front, but they may not have time to put on buds if it gets cold. Also, no rain for weeks, so that is having an effect. My teas look the best. Mdme Lambard is really pretty right now. Also Lady Hillingdon. I guess they like the cooler weather.

We're having our second year of confused weather and I don't know what awaits me in the garden. We finally got 8" inches of urgently needed rain in late October, it's warmish and sunny, and the Teas and some DA roses are making new growth. Flowering after nearly four months of heat and extremely sparse rain is only spotty, it hasn't gotten down to freezing yet, and I doubt we'll have much of a flowering so late in the year, but with this weather, who knows. To answer your question, 'Vanity' tends to be in bloom when nothing else is, also a creamy white Hybrid Tea/Tea of great beauty, dignity, and toughness, which I got as a cutting from my neighbor and the name of which I don't know: it sounds similar to 'Puerto Rico' and also resembles the Italian found rose 'Bianca di Corbara' (introduced by Walter Branchi) and may be identical to it. Oh, yes: 'MarÃ©chal Niel', 'Jaune Desprez', 'Mme. Antoine Mari', 'Mrs. B.R. Cant', 'Duchesse d'Auerstaedt' all get a little water and are all in flower. I'm so glad many of us have gotten rain! Thanks Tri., Ill check out the new roses just arrived at Bunnings and Big W for those 3. A new Seduction, ay! Will certainly look for that. You've probably noticed they're coming packed in clear plastic wrap again this year, bloody nuisance searching through them with all that in the way. I guess they're doing it 'cause folks might have complained about thorns. If they haven't got them I might try Swains or whoever and buy them mail-order.

I have ordered mine from Treloar's, so they will have them. Mine are coming in Early June. Don't care much for the plastic but they are always well wrapped. Remember Tracy used to be a member on this Forum.
Also, nice to see they have kept NZ Rosemary's rose at the head of the page, remember we asked for it to be put there after she went to God.

I'm still getting the odd Rose but they need a good prune.

I've got to go down to Sydney next week to visit daughters and grandkids and am hoping to making a stop at Swains over Dural way. Be a bit tight though, so might have to mail-order, will take a look at Treloar's catalogue when I get back. Yes, I remember asking about that lovely pink rose on the opening page, unfortunately she 'went to God' before I joined, and good to see they did keep it, T.
