Agree, the pods need to turn brown - watch them, or bag them with a length of nylon stocking and twist ties, so they don't crack open and spill the seed before you get to it. Note the suggestion to plant immediately after the pod has ripened. Orlando Sentinel, Mar 1997: Each cigar-shaped pod is more than a foot long and contains dozens of seeds. Wait until the pods start to crack before picking them. Then gather a few pods, and place them in a bag to open and release the seeds.Tabebuia seeds should be planted immediately in a loose potting mix. Cover them lightly with soil, and follow these tips:Keep the soil moist by watering when the surface starts to dry.Grow the seedlings in the full sun.Feed weekly with a half-strength 20-20-20 fertilizer solution.

Speaking of addictions, we spent the better part of today at a perennial/shrub/tree auction in a nearby small town... you know you're addicted to plants when you're willing to get up early and stand all day in the hot sun just to get a good deal on some perennials and dwarf shrubs for your garden! We ended up with a Jeep Cherokee loaded with Forsythia, Dogwood, Amethyst BeautyBerry, shrub and groundcover roses, Hostas and Hydrangea bushes. When we got back, I had to take a nap! Standing out in the sun and wind really did me in! But we got the whole Jeep load of plants for just over $100! There's no way we could have done that at retail stores! A productive day for plant addicts! And now back to the regularly scheduled seed talk...... :-)

Canarina, There are also lots of sites on the internet that shows how to make your own paper envelopes. Not difficult and much less expensive than coin envelopes. Just a thought... Ann
