Scott not much known about these wonderful plants . Michael Ferraro who is still with Nong Nooch seems to be the 'expert' he sent many species back to Flecker. I have about 4 spp. our native , recurvatum ; small pink densum ; giant yellow , dahlii ; black , also got a giant red that I am unsure of the name .. its also very hard to propagate .
Do you know what the differences are between hollrungi and densum? We have a yellow but I'm not sure which one. We have a few but I'ld like to know more about them and which ones are available in Australia. Someone else suggested Micheal Ferraro but I've heard he's elusive. Ann
I saw your post regarding Tapeinochilos and was wondering if you would be interested in doing a trade for any you have and/or other gingers?
I have Tapeinochilos ananassae as well as a large selection of Costus including: Costus curvibracteatus/productus Costus osae, red rose ginger Costus pictus ÂHieroglyphica Costus speciosus Costus speciosus variegated Costus varzearum ÂMaldonado Costus villosissimus Costus laevis
I am in the U.S.(Florida), but thoroughly clean all rhizomes before shipping.
Trading is very expensive between our countries .. Nearly all the Costus species you have are already in cultivation here in Australia .. to send plants to you would cost hundreds of dollars so not viable .. sorry.
Karen, sorry I've got the majority of that stuff and as Micheal says our quarentine laws make import very expensive. Have you tried this place? He sells on line and has quite the groovy collection. Good Luck! Ann
