I was told the name but forgot-sorry.

I think its an extremely unwell Croton - leaf structure is similar to some of the varieties in my garden. I know this sounds unlikely, given the lack of colour, so I'll lave this for the botanists among us.

Yes!

Artie, the leaf texture is softer than crotons as I know them - much like strobilanthes.

Could it be a aphelandra/justicia or even one of the newer euphorbias, possibly a pseuderanthemum. Just "shots in the dark" Hard to tell without flowers or stem shots. Robyn

I find the Calathea more interesting - I'm sure that Calathea Burle-Marxii and Ctenanthe Burle-Marxii are very different plants when placed alongside one another, but I have real problems when I see one in a mixed planting. I guess I just dont have the same eye for detail that many garden webbers possess :)

I would agree with Hoffmannia. Probably Hoffmannia ghiesbreghtii (variegated taffeta plant). Pretty rare I think.
