Yes, nice looking frangipany, pity they all suffer from the 'Rust' now-a-days. I now only grow the resistant variety, Plumera podica; white flower, 'hammer-head' leaf, unfortunatey no scent.

That Podica is very pretty isn't it? I was reading a bit about it and they said it was good for a hedge, too. hmmmmmmm... I may have a spot for a couple of those. Did you see that you can get it in a pink shade too?

Hi annie. No, a pink form! I didn't know there was a one; I must do a 'Google' on it - gees, I reckon that'd be a lovely looking 'frangipinny'. Pity, you know, it doesn't have a scent. As for a hedge, ummm, I dunno about that either, I reckon your shears-cum-secutuers (excuse spelling) might get a little clogged up with white sap before you got too far with trimming it.
Yes, it is pretty, and, where I am in the almost sub-tropics, it is never without a flower - heaps in the warmer months, a few in the cooler. Like all frangipanies, it grows readily from cuttings.

Not only is there a white one, but I have a photo of one that is red.
The fragrance is one of my faves..

I didn't realise they have crossed Plumera podica with p. obtusifolia and named it Plumeria "Puditusa"! I just 'googled' it. Thank you for that. I'd love to get one or two of them particularly if they are immune to the 'rust' fungus that has infected the obtusifolias. Have you any info on that? I must research it and if they are immune I'll try and buy one or two by email. No one around here (NSW., Northern Rivers) sells them.

Ladies, I contacted the growers who have propagated the podica x obtusifolia hybrid and they have them available. I'll copy and paste their response here. Seems they don't come cheap though.
'"Puditusa" is a rust free hybrid. Pudica, as a species has no perfume,
however a cross was done a few years ago that developed one with a perfume
and we should release it in a year or so.'
That's from 'The Frangipanny Farm' in North Queensland. Just 'Google it in.
Rustfree! That makes even paying a bit more for one worthwhile. They look gorgeous on the grower's site. I think I might invest. I think they do mail orders.

You don't mean Sacred Gardens at Mt Garnet, do you? that's up near Cairns.

I found there wasn't a comprehensive amount of information provided, you see I'd only be interested to obtain 'rust' free (rustproof) ones. And the prices of the hybrids - between podica ond obtusafolia, the only ones I could find they say are rust free - are all a bit pricey! They also offer seeds, 10, 20, at reasonable prices but don't say what variety they're from. I'm wondering if and when they'll produce enough to supply the trade - nurseries, etc., - with stock. Anyway, I haven't given up, will do a bit more (Google) research before I decide.
