Yellowfin: Price was my biggest consideration in refusing the Ninja bade, but engineering superiority of the generic blade I bought was the deciding factor even if the prices had been the same. The generic blade I purchased (Forgot the brand name long ago.) has an undulating blade design. The blade is bent to lift the grass at the outer edge and bent on the inner edge to force the grass back down. The generic blade is sharpened almost all the way to the mounting hole. I have always been happy with the clipping quality of regular blades because I cut grass on a regular basis and the resultant clippings are fine enough with regular blades. Where mulching blades excel is if you miss your regular mowing schedule and you have to cut tall grass. I used to use my dethatching blade mounted by itself on my mower until this year when I started attaching it to the bottom of my regular blade with high lift wings and that allows me to dethatch and bag at the same time. I am going to experiment this year by placing a generic 20" blade under my 21" blade to see if I can induce even more lift when cutting my grass. If the 20" blade does induce more lift, I will be able to raise my cutting height on the mower to the highest clearance notch which will give me about 1/2" higher grass and I will only lose 1/16" because the second blade will sit that much lower than the primary blade. Cutting at the highest height setting with just the primary blade does not give decent suction to raise my Kentucky Bluegrass and the cut is not as nice as the next highest setting. The reason I am going to use a 20" blade on the bottom of a 21" blade is because of the rolled under lip the Snapper decks have. A double 21" blade setup might not clear the lip. Fairyprincess

Hey, I didn't even tell you the best part, I filled it with oil and gas, and I was about to pull the starter rope, when I got"off balance" (tripped over my own feet ;-), and what occurred was a half-hearted, falling backwards, kind of pull.... that thing started right up, and every time since, I'm serious ,This thing starts up sooooo easily....it totally rocks ;-) I Love that ! ! !

Yea, it is an accessory for your shredder if you need something larger than the bag it comes with. I saw you were questioning small bags/ having to empty often. This would be a solution. The link is to home depot, it is the black & decker version which is 29 bucks. g'day dee & shelly, yes i meant the honda has the best durability and reliability!? recommendations about it from users that i ahve read. for me i ahd the b&s ic 5hp and as always the b&s did the job very well i had no problems with it but then with my background i do tend to know how to run a new motor in and use it within it's capabilities. the greenfield (and i can't help saying it is "damn fine machinery") will do all material fibrous or otherwise, you must all remember though these machines are only common garden type shredders they are not chippers, chipping is an added capacity that the user must know the limitations of the main variable whether branches are hardwood or softwood. if you require a chipper then you need to buy a chipper (about twice the price of a good shredder) and for the main us common garden type folk can't afford them and i don't realy think we need them. and a word to the wise it pretty much doesn't matter how much you spend on an electric model they always have been and always will be in the toy catagory in the average garden, and box models purchased from discounters come under the 'pig in a poke' catagory you get what you pay for, you want good machinery with after sales service/advice you go to a specialist. i don't want to talk anyone out of buying a good machine but for the main as i see it most gardeners could get by with just hiring a shredder as they need it, good hire companies have the greenfield's for hire, this way you don't have the capitol expenditure nor the servicing or maintenance to be concerned about. len Here is a link that might be useful: lens garden page
