I'm sorry that was a rather unclear description. By "single" I mean that I am only looking for one rose for that location. Bishop Darlington looks like it fits the bill perfectly - tall, fragrance that carries, repeating, does well in warm climates, perfect for the back of the border. Erf, but it looks like Heirloom doesn't carry it, which is where I was planning to order from with their current free ship deal. I'll have to put it on my wishlist though, as it sounds as though it can be prodded into being a climber, so I may have space for it another time... Any other suggestions?

I suppose it wouldn't hurt to try countryrosegirl. I know our yard wouldn't look like it does if the 2 of us didn't work as a team to make it so. Be aware that Deb says I am sexy and I know she is just saying that to be kind to an old man :) Pauline, I couldn't believe how Deb had been treated when we met. One of my proudest moments was when her 5 year old son asked her why she didn't cry all the time anymore :) I should note that I have received much more than I have given in our relationship. I consider myself (know I am) the lucky one. Leslie, I was just teasing Harry. I knew what he meant :) Funny thing is.... I knew when I met Deb that she would find someone better for her and get tired of putting up with my ornery, uuhhh, self. I knew I was shooting myself in the foot giving her ego a boost. Advertising how wonderful she was would make that happen faster but she deserved so much more than the treatment she was getting. Had to do the right thing by her even though it would cost me. Could not imagine her putting up with me a year. 23 years should qualify her for sainthood LOL. Mark Chamblee told me a long time ago that some of these mislabeled roses were just unnamed ones that had been given a name to match their color - roses that were maybe one of a kind......maybe from breeders' fields that were never going to be registered. Of course they could be a named variety..........but could also be a one of a kind rose that got the name Winter Sun stuck on the pot because they are both in the yellow family. Whatever it is........it is a lovely rose! Looks more like an Austin. I might suggest going through every one of Austin's yellow roses and try, by process of elimination, to see which one of his roses it might be. Was it a body bag or did it come in a pot from a nursery? If so, might show them photos and see if they could help. I bought some lovely roses years ago from Walmart in pots - they were labeled with names of roses I know - full of buds. When they bloomed.......no way were they what they were supposed to be. I bought a few from a flea market last spring - one, a gorgeous deep red. The guy said it was Mr. Lincoln - which is was not as it didnt have a scent but it was such a huge, gorgeous red I just had to have it. Sometimes the beauty of the rose supersedes our desire to know its name......... Judith
