Well there was a tremendous crowd at the expo this morning (Saturday) to such an extent that it was almost impossible to take photos of the larger exhibits. I had the opportunity to talk to some terrific people, everyone seemed enthusiastic. Our own table , the International Tropical Foliage & Gardening Society, drew many folk, thanks mainly to the fabulous floral and plant arrangements, courtesy of a donor for the broms and cordylines, and to two generous members for their garden contributions of gingers, heliconias, brom flowers and fabulous foliage. Apologies to the girls, I never even asked their consent to post these! Gulp am I in trouble, but they are a lot easier on the eye than me! There was too little time to see everything while trying to do my duty (and too many distractions to do my duty properly - again, apologies girls if you read this). But some of the displays were wonderful, lots of interesting things, talks, people. One day left, I think it would be worth a visit but then I have never been to such a large display before. I doubt it why don't you give them a ring Lucy. I know they would not be that price now, we used to buy large round bales for $20 last year, this year they were $35 each we drive down south to Woongoolba with our trailer and can just fit one in it, this guy will deliver, earlier this year eight of the rounds bales was the least and he charged $50 delivery to where I live north of Beenleigh and I know he charged $100 delivery for a friend of mine over in Bellbowrie he bought 16 large round bales. We reckon there would be 15-20 small bales in a big round bale. Those small bales are small and not compacted like the ones Bunnings sell, and nothing is cheap for the garden these days If you want their number let me know.. Cheers Mary-Anne

This sounds like something I have heard about from over in Australia. I have yet to find exact details, but from what bits I have gathered it sounds like once a year they have an 'Open Day' where people all across the country open their gardens to the public. I don't know if each territory has their own dates, but I have heard gardeners in Brisbane, Sydney and Perth talk about participating. I think they do something like this in England too. The more I heard about it, the more I started looking to see if there was anything like this in Florida, but never heard of one until now. Though this sounds a bit more narrowed or specialized.
