Isn't it wonderful! Hope it's been widespread. We've had some rain in recent months that has always bypassed poor Goulburn just up the highway. Much as we have needed it, they have needed it more. They have had no outside watering for I don't know how long.

g'day macbirch,

great to see some getting some rain from time to time, but this is not wide spread, our pundants where building up the expectations of those of us in s/e qld to expect some of this rain, but alas they where wrong yet again i thnk the best was around 5mm south of brissy, we got 1.25mm.

fingers crossed this out of season cyclone may do the right thing.

Well, lucky you, Glenda! As Carol said, we got a little dribble from Mother Nature the other day, but nothing much. Sure hope we get some more this winter. We need it, our trees and shrubs need it.

I have so much painting and wood rot repair to do - however NOTHING is drying out - or it might start to, and then we get another massive dump. What do pro's do - is there anything you can do besides sit and wait? Have thought about hanging a giant 20 x 30 tarp on the one side of the house in most need of work (where rain tends to hit it) but would that trap moisture IN as much as it keeps it out??????

Well, I found a new camera in town on Tuesday. I haven't used it yet, as I haven't been feeling too good. Perhaps I will find the old camera when I clear all of the old growth next winter/spring. Tabitha, loves being out in the garden with me. She explores and chases butterflies all of the time. She did fall into that tall pot. I took the photo just as she was trying to climb out. Nothing seems to faze her and she tries to be friends with everyone. Daisy

Melissa - so happy to hear that you have been having good precipitation! Here in Northern CA it has been sunny, and in the high 60s or even low 70s degrees F every day for weeks. They now start counting our rainfall on Oct 1, and since then we have gotten 1/3rd of an inch of rain. (So, I turned our irrigation system off, but have had to turn it on again). No this is NOT "normal". I think our normal to date for this date is well over 5 inches. Sigh. They are now predicting some rain for this coming Sat and Sun, but I will believe it when I see it. Pierre? I just checked ABC News Online and it said it's been downgraded and is heading north so the Torres Strait area may get some rain in a few days. So sorry you're missing out.

They're saying this is the beginning of the end of the drought but they said that last time it rained and they were saying it this time last year too. Still, it sure was a nice sound on the roof and the ground was nice and soft when I went out to do the weeding this morning. Bit of a shock how bad the garden's gotten since the weather started to cool down and I stopped keeping a close eye on it. The weeds don't need much rain at all to get going. Too many empty spaces but the water restrictions discourage one from planting. Can't help thinking about the farmers. My little garden dilemmas pale in comparison.
