Annabel, lets dispell the mith about Fusilade. I am giving you the site to check this out, it is called Pest Genie, It might be good for all your problems. Once you have arrived at the site, go to product search and then to packaging (1lt) bottle. If your local bloke says no, go and show him this site, he maybe shocked with what it has got on it. This site is for all to look at and appraise, feedback would be interesting. I may be wrong, but am hot under the collar with other posts. All I say is that with use of this site (pestgenie) have found, most answers, one way or the other. I work with most chemicals in my vineyard and at home, used in the propermanner the are safe and avialable if you ask around. Sorry for the long story, (re:glyphosate). Regards David. P.S. We bought a 1 litre bottle of Fusilade from either Rural Traders in Midland or Farm Shop. I'm pretty sure Wesfarmers also stocked it but that was about 2 years ago. Cost about $70.

The only stuff to work on couch in the rose bed. Roundup is not something I'll let loose within cooee of my roses or other plants.

I'm very surprised re the comments about it being only available in larger quantities. You could ask around or even ring the Midland stores mentioned.

Many thanks for the tip on the pest genie site. I hadnt used it for a while. The store i work in stocks it only in the one litre size and it is $ 105. I cant comment on how effective it is in the home garden as i have not used it. David, may i ask what you are hot under the collar about on other posts. I bought some Fusilade today after ordering it from Mackays. It cost $136 for one litre. Recommended application rates are given as "so much per hectare" - what rates do people use please? I have 6 litre and 15 litre backpacks. Also the booklet talks about adding adjuvants "Agral" or "BS1000". What are these and what are adjuvants?

Fusilade - 200 ml./100L, or 20ml./10L. Try Agral or other wetting agent as a spreadetr to ensure all foliage is covered. Works immediately to kill grasses, tho' this may not show for some time. It is completely effective in killing all grasses, but some heavily infested areas may need to be hit again. Best used at height of growing season for particular grasses, usually Summer.

I thought I was had paying $116!! 1ozza, can anything else be used as a wetting agent, like dishwashing liquid? I just used it without anything else. In the strength to use for different crops it was easy to work out amount per 10 litres as I was using the watering can. Because my Kikuyu is so rampant I used the higher rate where it was just grass and less on the vege garden:50ml per 10 mls, up to 80 mls on heavy, old grass. My spray is useless so just watered it on.

I've heard Clensel won't harm roses, but really, Agral is not expensive. Better buy a decent spray, you're wasting a helluvalot of spray watering it. It works on the foliage only. Varying the rate is not a good idea unless the directions say so. It gains you nothing to overdo it. Be patient and do the job properly for best results. We can't hasten these things.

Thank you for your help Lozza. I don't mind paying for it, if it does the job. We asked at Bunnings but they didn't have it. Mackays got it in for us. Their price was the same as Muir's in Pakenham who handle the big nets for the vineyards etc., and other market garden needs.

Annabel,you are in a hurry and as Lozza said, it takes time. The only other way if you are IMPATIENT, check with Lozza, but I have found at work if we induce growth with water and spray on the emergence a good green regrowth that we have had a good kill. Up market soap will do, but if you can drive to a vineyard or orchard or maybe a large grower nursury, they (might sell you some) will have Agral (or like) and advise on rates . Hope this makes sense, as I have just got home from harvesting the last of the areas grapes. Best regards David.

Yes, I did overlook the fact that the best time to spray is when the grasses are growing strongest. Summer and Autumn for Paspalum, Couch, and Kikuyu. They are not so active in Winter and Spring, so get 'em when they're thriving. A good backpack spray will cost about $170 and is well worth it. Bunning's sell rubbish. Go to your produce store for quality.

I'd love to be able to afford a good spray, but my family keep needing Mum to bail them out. Almost cleaned me out this time :-(((((
