Tricky one. Check the ICON base and/or the ag dept site for your state as it may have weed status. Not that that means nurseries don't sell it!! You can keep it in a large pot if you find it. It might depend on how well it seeds too.

You will not contain it, Birds I think spread the fruit and hence the seeds. Bit of a menace.

I just saw your post on the Himalayan honeysuckle. I have had one for about 4 years, and it has never come up anywhere else. I think in a different climate it might, but here in SW Washington, it doesn't. I've even tried to germinate the seeds with no luck. I have taken cuttings successfully. It is a very beautiful shrub. Because the women in our famiy tend to wear long earrings, my brother-in-law calls it the "Gourde(maiden name) earring bush.

It is quite an attractive shrub especially for winter interest with those lovely green stems. It was used a lot in the UK on shooting estates as cover for pheasants. The problem is that the berries are loved by birds and readily germinate. Definitely a plant that could become a "feral" problem.

Washington gets snow. Very few areas in OZ do except in the mountains. But South Australia has a Mediterranean climate same as where I am. Feral plants are problematic.

I remember seeing some growing at Richardson's nursery, McLaren Vale. They didn't have any for sale at the time though.
