Must be lots of fun Sharon to wait anxiously to see a new seedling bloom for the first time! both are lovely:) This is kinda my "dog" $$ spending year, not a gardening year, so had only ordered 3 daylilies from Coral Kincaid (was so impressed last year with my order) two for grandaughters - Brooklyn Twist (which is so appropriate with her kinky/curly hair) and the closest I could come up with for Colby was Colburg's Frightwig (appropriate in a way, as her hair is REALLY curly/tossled) both Coral and I agreed, that Colby better have a good sense of humor, when she is old enough to know what her "namesake" daylily is:) both have bloomed and I am pleased with both. The third one I ordered was Radiation Biohazard - everyone's pics of this one, made me "just have to have it". The other daylily source I have ordered from in the past was Artemis Gardens and they sent huge/multiple fans - one of particular note is Kings Throne - just got it last year, but this year, it is sending many, many thick scapes up with 4 to 5 way branching, and the blooms are thick, heavy and large, very pleased with this one. (although I have a thing for the spiders) I was extremely disapointed with the order from Floral & Hardy (posted a pic on a different thread last year) just a few of my order made it, and although the prices were good, just too disapointed overall to try them again. Well - I have to thank njtea for the Hildebrandt rec - what a place that is, they have some great unusual plants. We didn't find the cedar we were looking for BUT did find a wonderful copper beach about 20ft tall and very full. My wife is thrilled and Mr Hildebrandt is quite an amazing gentleman as well. He almost had me sold on a sweet gum tree but then I realized the leaf texture was similar to some of the other trees we have on our property and then there was my wife who was thrilled with the CB selection - fairly reasonable prices too. We will definately be returning for some interesting shrubs and other plants next spring - one thing at a time.

Couch ... rather a poor picture, but you can see the shape of the arms. It's all loose pillows, so it's easy to recover. I'm going to strip the wood of that tacky pastel stuff and let the real wood do its thing. The floor is extremely temporary. Under the yucky 1992 pinkish-beige carpet (date verified by a scrap of newspaper referring to "president-elect Clinton) was equally yucky plywood subfloor, and the new oak floors won't arrive until late July. So I grabbed some "oops" paint from the hardware store and painted it a dusty lavender. It's smoother, dust-free, and way prettier than plywood. Cooperbailey: Yes, the pillows are definitely going to be covered with something suitably gaudy fun. The design goal for this place is "Taos Hippy Colony/ Vintage New Mexico / Boho Ethnic Moroccan" but with less taste.

Oh yes! Irish Luck is the shiniest hosta I have ever seen. Thanks for posting this, Bragu, as I went out to gaze upon my Candy Dish and discovered mealy bugs on both my L. Dragonfly hostas that are next to the Candy Dish. Argggh! I had to get a Q-tip and rubbing alcohol to do them in. Then I drenched the pot with some systemic insecticide to kill the larvae. FWIW. those mealy bugs have a waxy coating that nothing except alcohol can cut thru. The only other remedy I have found is horticultural oil that smothers them, but using oil on hostas removes the glaucous bloom, and I wanted to see them DEAD NOW. -Babka
