Yes Paradisi, quite a pervading perfume like frangipanni or gardenia. Pity they only last one night.

Thanks for posting the image of "MOONFLOWER".I have been wondering for ages what it looked like. Do you know if it comes in other colours as I have something similar in a dark pinky -red.(flower only opens up in the sun) I have a perfume called " Spirit of Moonflower" and it has a beautiful heavenly scent. Originally my daughter sent it to me from Ireland but I have since found it in the "BODY SHOPS" here.

PS. Just in case anyone missed me (posting in that is) I have been laid up lately . Had a Total knee replacement on the 14th March. Getting around a little bit now but am hoping to be able to get outside soon in my messy garden and give my plants some much needed attention. It get's a bit frustrating when one is only able to look and can't touch the weeds etc.

Hello Margaret, no the moonflower is only white - Calyoniction aculeatum (ot something like that I am too lazy to look it up) or Ipomoea alba.
Mind you, many things have a common name "moonflower".
You probably have one of the annual morning glories, they are pretty.

I have been thinking about climbers to plant in my own garden when I move shortly and love the red variety of this. I also love mandevillas. My pink Alice du Pont is in a pot and flowers non-stop as does the white one. Forget its name. I want to reward Alice by getting her out of the pot and letting her go. Have to find a place for her first though.

Are mandevillas full sun as mine have never flowered and I am trying to remember where I had them, probably in the shade somewhere. Trust me.

Has anyone southward successfully grown this? I am dreaming about it in my sunny protected inner city melbourne garden - we seem to be able to grown mandevillas ok.

Bavaria I hope some Victorians will reply, butit should do OK. They tend to go dormant even here in Qld in winter, and re-shoot in spring. In the subtropics it can end up a rather large and rampant vine but can be tip pruned to make it more compact. Grown from seed here in spring they would generally be flowering in 3 months. If your patio is warm enough to avoid frosts, or you have a heated germinator, you could probably start them latish winter. If you would like some seeds write to me through "my page"
