They are Bromeliads and this is a Billbergia look like the most common one grown here.. Billbergia pyramidalis

I came to the same conclusion and went looking for the proper name. So you beat me to it.

How are things down your way?

We had a week of extra, ordinary, warm weather, but now it's more normal a few degrees below -o C. at night.
The snow drops and crocus haven't been told, they are up too early...

I have been growing canna for the last 20 years. I have both the red leaf ones and the green leaf ones. Please listen to what Ken said. Depending upon were you are located, you may have to dig up the bulbs in fall. I started with only a few of these bulbs and now I give to my friends & local greenhouse for them to sell as I am overwhelmed with too many of these bulbs. They are a beautiful plant in my opinion.

I have no personal experience of this but could it be Zephyranthes Candida, commonly called the rainflower because it blooms after rainfall? Have a look on here: http://www.pacificbulbsociety.org/pbswiki/index.php/Zephyranthes Whatever, it is very pretty.

Thank you! I live in central Arkansas. It was so hot last summer everything died except this guy and even when we had a snow/ice storm this past winter it just kept going. It wasn't constantly in bloom but it held up. I am going to look for more seeds this weekend. Un-killable is a perfect plant for me.. :) Again Thank you!

Things are fine here Inga the weather is starting too cool down its 26.4Â°C at present at 9.30am
I have friends in the USA Kansas and their crocus popped their little heads up and then it snowed again.
Its been a strange year world wide, we are going to Wales UK in June for 10 weeks so hoping for warmer weather over there than usual.
