After seeing the huge array of exotic palms in Singapore I have decided to try a couple of more exotic species that I saw at the zoo in plastic pots under the back verandah. We have bought an Areca vestiaria and a Pinanga coronata. Has anyone had much success with these in cooler areas? The veranda faces North and there is a brick wall on one side so its pretty sheltered from cold southerly winds and the roof is covered with rigid, opaque plastic sheeting so they are protected from possible frosts. Any tips or personal opinions would be greatly appeciated.
