Have never grown it myself. Are they hard to grow?

I've had it in the pot for 2years and it flowered last September I posted it then I think i called it spring Beauty
or something like that and thought it was a Spring flowering
bulb. It was a surprise to see it flowering again abt 4 months later. I don't know if this is usual,I hope someone
may let us know.I havn't done anything to it .it has just been sitting on the porch ,behind where the sunflowers
are growing. chas

I think we did Valottas awhile ago didn't we? I had them in Sydney, I think they took a season or two to flower but then it flowered every year. My encyclopedea of Australian Gardening suggests they should be planted in clumps of 3 to 4 bulbs, 15 cms or so apart in winter or spring and left undisturbed, however if necessary they can be dug up and divided in winter. They like a sunny position.

The thing that got me was it blooming after such a short time. I think it is the same bulb but they're are other shoots in the pot,but we'll enjoy it while it,s going.

Ya must have it in just the right spot, Chas. 'tis an eye-catching bloom. You know come this winter I'd take a look see if I could devide it. Might be enough bulbs there.
