Good bye to a grand old 40m Gum tree in my garden

Tomboy

Don't know exactly what happened, but most likely a fungal disease or possibly white ants or a combination of both. Situated less than three metres from our loungeroom wall, 40 metres high and very dead. Today the tree fellers took it down... well almost, they have to come back tomorrow and remove about the last 8 metres. I'm so glad we still have three other large ones approximately the same size and about 6 others of varying smaller sizes (and that's just the gums).

We aren't on acreage just a larger than normal house block situated on a corner - approx 1/3 of an acre. The entire suburb has blocks about this size and quite leafy, but I think our block has the biggest trees.

Anyway it's gone now and though I'm saddened by it's death, I feel so much safer.

Just thought I'd share that

Best

Cathy
