The Olive Garden was great! And I didn't even have to pay for it, which somehow made it even better! LOL! My roommate treated me to lunch/dinner, but I paid for the bottle of wine I wound up bringing home. It was totally cool, I had myself a small wine-tasting event before the salads came around, which was very cool! And, want to know what makes today even better? I did some winter-sowing, oh yeah! I used 3 72-cell miniature greenhouses, and now they're outside waiting on warm weather so they can start sprouting. I did a tray of painted and african daisies, a tray of tomatoes, and a mixed tray of hollyhocks, devil's claw, roses, rhubarb, and something I keep forgetting! Bump pretty much stayed away once he realized what I was doing, but Stella "helped" the whole time, giving me opinions, telling me which seeds to plant next, and splattering me with water. Yep, she's a gardener! And, speaking of Bingo cards, mine isn't broken, but it looks like it's stuck in first gear with only the one number being on it. Who's ready for another number??? Peace. -Dan

Ivamae, I am keeping you in my prayers.... I am still numb and just finding it so difficult to come to grips with losing my beloved husband.... I have a wonderful suppport system with my church family, but the crying just seems to come and go and I don't know how to get it to stop. I wrote this tribute to him that a friend of mine will read at the memorial service on Valentine's day.. ********************************************** It seems like such a long time since yesterday When Bob was right here with us. Though growing old and sometimes struggling, He brought us so much cheer with his hugs, and little kisses of love But now as we stand upon this shore, We cannot trace the path Christ leads him down, We only know that since yesterday He sees his Savior's face. His first day home since yesterday! We wonder at that thought! One day we will know that special joy That moment must have brought him No clouds, no mists, no rain since yesterday, No pain, no questions, "Why?" Unshadowed now he sees the sun and time has passed him by. We miss him so since yesterday, Each memory rises up in our minds, And for just a moment he again is here alive. How we long to share & see his smile, And feel his special loveÃ¯Â¿Â½.. Yet, could we call him back again, To leave the delight of his soul?? To leave the gladness of the morning For one more pain filled night? Ah, no, we release him to the Lord, To let him go with joy, Because we will meet again one day and We would not want to take away the joy he's known since yesterday. We cannot deny the special gift the Savior had to give? For he who struggled so for life, has just begun to live! I am relieved that he is no longer in pain, but my selfish side wants him home with me again.... but one day we will be together forever... As for weighing, I have no idea, and I eon't really care right now.... I have no appetite, so my interest isn't on food.. but I eat to stay alive.. anf that's about it... Maybe I will have more to offer after this is all over and I can get back to som semblance of normalcy again.

We actually celebrate quite a bit then, as our anniversary is in January, and both our birthdays are in early-February. My theme then is the celebration of Winter. Post-Christmas. Post red and green. When Christmas is packed away, I decorate with dark blue, white and silver. Lots of candles. Bare branches. Crystal. I love every season. In my opinion, why fight it? I choose to embrace the beauty of Winter and, since our anniversary and birthdays are during it, I use it as a theme for our parties. Chilled vodka-based drinks. Crackling fires in the fireplaces. There are many directions to go from there.

Well, I finished the rose pruning today and removed vast quantities of deadwood; enough so I could unravel most of the healthy canes and hoist them onto the shepherd's hooks. I did have to cut out some green stuff as well. This was the rose pathway on January 8, 2017. I only shoveled as far as the rose blockage. After the snow melted I was able to shove the roses up a bit so I could sidle past, but I got bitten each time. That's sweet Autumn clematis on the shelves to the right. That doesn't bite. And this is what is left today. I won't describe the state of my favorite work shirt that took the brunt of the thorny resistance (the hat and sunglasses and gloves protected most of me). I also cut back the sweet Autumn clematis that's growing on the fence and the storage shelves. The real test will be whether the roses bloom around the Fourth of July as usual. I also need to figure out how to maintain the roses so they don't get this tangled up again. Claire
