There's a good chance instead of butterfly, you had a sawfly larvae infestation. They can strip the foliage in very little time and since the same color as the leaf and very small, can go unnoticed until too late. My neighbor and I have both lost foliage so quickly (almost overnight) she was blaming deer - it was sawfly larvae. http://www.ppdl.purdue.edu/ppdl/weeklypics/weekly_picture5-6-02-1.html

Pretty Pink rose, what is it??

Well that is definitely NOT a Knock Out! From the growth habit it looks like a hybrid tea of some sort but I don't know who. You say it's pink but in those pictures it looks very coral/salmon. Is it?

Pretty pink ground cover. What is it?

That OP photo looks strangely familiar. Coincidentally, a few weeks ago I planted some Teucrium majoricum beside some of the blue fescue in our hell strip, and added the Carrissa groundcover 'Boxwood Beauty' for the similar green foliage effect in your photo. I think there are a number of fine substitutes for the heather that would produce a similar visual contrast to the blue fescue.

Hi nickelsmum! It sure is beautiful; it looks like a keeper to me. Do you know how often it blooms? Or how it smells? I'm not too good at identifying roses, but hopefully an OGR expert will come along and help identify it. This is purely a guess, but it looks like some variety of hybrid perpetual. Have a lovely evening, damask_rose : )
