the leaves are very dry and browning and falling off yet the beans are still growing but I don't see it flowering anymore could it be the end of the season or is something else going on ?

I'll read up on how to post photos - LOL. Embarrassed to admit this - but maybe it'll save another newbie some head aches - maybe an OCD newbie like me - I planted 4-5 varieties in milk jugs and made nice sowing lines for the seeds. In my computer, I listed the jug number and row 1-5, starting from the left. I labeled the jugs with a jug number, lid and base, and labeled the L side and R side. Labeled with a black sharpie before Bonnie said use a gold paint pen... As spring arrived, the sun COOKED the black sharpie right off the plastic...my fireman hose like watering style mixed all the seeds inside the jug!! UGH. So much for my OCD attempts at WSing. Then, when it came time to plant, I realized that my 4-5 variety per jug, although insuring a variety of flowers (in one tiny HOS!!), has a mix of shade AND sun loving and tall with short varieties!! I also noticed that some varieties were big and ready to plant, and others were too small to be sent into my harsh garden environment!! As I type this, I'm thinking I have NO common sense!! In my defense, when I remember back 6 months ago, I was overwhelmed with the quantity of seeds I had amassed and now wish I would've tried less in my first year. I'm sure some fantastic varieties were sacrificed during my first WS season of learning... NOW, I understand why the old timers use one container per variety, and use gold paint pens:)) I have about 35 containers left and my plant out will be complete. Just waiting for the sprouts to get big enough to survive rabbits and soccer balls. I am cleaning the old jugs for storage and telling myself I can sow only what I have jugs for - uh huh. I have also purchased some sweet watering guns that emit just the right amount of stream for the tender sprouts/seeds. For 2010, I'll also direct sow more. I killed some beautiful zinnias, planting them in tiny containers. Never saw any sprouts and nothing grew in the tiny containers I used. Anything that can be direct sown, will be next year. Mother Nature is such a huge influence/assistant in WSing, let her take over with the direct sowable as well.

Maureen, good to see you posting! And your plumie is GORGEOUS!! So pretty! Isn't it wonderful to have a living remembrance of your father...something that he grew and you will continue to grow and pass on. Very pretty MM. You need my little helper. I have a little boy who lives next door. He is autistic but for some reason he loves to visit me. I told him one day that ladybugs eat the aphids. We now have a virtual army of ladybugs. He collects them everywhere he goes and then brings them home and deposits them on my roses. He has his own little plot of plants down the back....he loves to garden, has been quite some time since I have done gardening with littlies. I love him to pieces!!!
