I am in SA - Adelaide I have planted my sweet peas a couple of weeks ago and already some of them are 15cm high! I read the gardening section in the sunday mail one weekend and bought some seeds that day to go in!

I put some of the dwarf ones in my hanging baskets, and then got some of the monstor 6 feet ones hopefully to grow over my arbour where my banksia rose is (and not showing much at the moment). I havent grown them before so I am quite excited!

I havent grown them before (as you can gather) but i am game to try anything once LOL :-)

My grandmother always had two huge trestles covered with sweet peas - always picked a huge bunch for my birthday in early september, so many fond childhood memories associated with the smell of sweet peas. She always said you should wait til after the "April rains" to plant them, and often left planting til the end of April. Given that rain these days is scarce I don't know how to translate this! - but they grow pretty easily so don't think there'd be too many problems growing them now.

My seeds of the one that spreads on the ground had all dried mid summer so I placed the dried plants seeds & all around the garden where I hoped they might come up & they have this year they will be in lots of places & they are now about 6-8 inches tall
