Very cute! The Stapeliad flowering in the back looks like Huernia thuretii (maybe ssp. thuretii as well). Maybe a Piaranthus in front of it. Looks like an Agave in back (left) behind another Huernia. Anthony, while that glass container looked nice it really is not practical for cactus or succulents. You really want to use a container that drains well, and unless there is a hole in it glass does not. When I water my cactus and succulents I water them until water runs out of the bottom of the pot, and not again until they are almost bone dry. You want a mix that drains well. If the cactus is kept too wet it will usually rot and die. I use plastic pots, but for someone that is ne I would recommend unfinished ot unpainted clay pots, they dry out faster, and allow a larger margin of error. GOOD LUCK!

Aztcqn, that's beautiful! Thank you for sharing that picture! I appreciate the first-hand care tips. I checked it today and it's in a very coarse, very dry grit-mix, so I'm probably not going to repot it for a while. It will definitely get and stay nice and dry here. When you water yours, do you fully wet it allowing water to drain out the bottom? water it from below? Spritz it? So looking forward to life with this cactus. Maryl, there are great posts on here about the gritty mix. Just do a search on Al's Gritty Mix. He's famous. :-) In case he reads this post, "Thanks, Al, for making my plants a lot happier!" I got my Repti-bark at Petsmart. I got the granite chips at Tractor Supply. I got the medium perlite at my local independent nursery. I got the clay bits from the auto-parts store, a product used to soak up oil in driveways. No, I bring everything in about mid-October. I have a small greenhouse, so some go in there; some go in a spare room on plant racks with artificial lights to supplement window light; and some go out in the barn with an LED plant-specturm light over them. I think I watered the C&S about twice all winter. Everything survived just fine.

I'm gonna guess it will get bigger, but it could stay smaller. I've seen ones that aren't huge:). It's crazy how I could not tell what your cactus was in the first pic. But just with a little growth I could tell what it was. Sometimes it doesn't take years and years. Sometimes it just takes a little more growth to see the growth pattern to figure out the id. Then sometimes it does take years and years of growth plus needing a bloom to get an id.
