Melva, that's good that you found some plastic deer net type material that would work for a trellis. I found another use for it -- to drape over my newly rooted rose cuttings in their little pots so the squirrels don't try to dig in them and knock them over. Srburk, thanks for looking and liking my garden with the yellow pots. I'm liking them more and more. The small can of yellow paint I bought at the hardware store was too dark of a yellow, so I mixed it with some white paint I already had and it turned out perfect. Well, I'm off to spray the yard with beneficial nematoes. The flower beetles came back last summer after a long absence. I sprayed some nematodes then, but not nearly enough I guess as I kept finding grubs when digging this winter.

The spikes will decompose....but not in a "bit" longer. Actually a LOT longer. This is based on observances of similarly structured denser objects...like pumpkin stems, or twigs in horse manure, or chopped up corncobs. It's lots easier and more practical to have decomposition and edibility progress at similar rates. Contrary to that old erroneous wormers' holy grail, I spend a lot of time rummaging around in bins, experimenting, observing stuff, and continuing to be more and more positive that the wormies could care less if I'm "bothering" them. I haven't had a mass evacuation in about 15 years....no matter what horrible impositions I put them thru. Matter of fact, the easiest way to correct that malady when the worms become lethargic and begin to stagnate in the bottom of a bin that's too-wet down there? Stir it all up with your WONDERSTICKtm. The wormies will snap out of it and get back to work. Anyway, because I DO spend lots of time with worm poop on my hands, I would not put stuff capable of pricking those fingers into the mix. Monica, The main active ingredient in that product is imidacloprid which is a powerful toxic chemical. While it is quite effective at getting rid of many awful pests including spider mites and mealy bugs (my personal nemesis, the mealy) it also kills many beneficial insects like bees. It is also harmful to people and pets. I have used it in the past, and if faced with mealy bugs dripping off my plants I might resort to it again, but for now I have eliminated bayer from my own toolkit. Easy decision since NY State made it illegal first, and amazon won't even ship it to me. I would never ever consider spraying or using it indoors. I encourage you to do some research on imidacloprid to at least be well informed. If you eat the fruit from your citrus, make sure you know what you are doing. Daniel
