Leslie, seems you need a greenhouse. Save those pennies and in a few decades you can get a small one! Seriously, I know how it is to have too many plants to cart in and out, not to mention looking for space indoors for winter. So, I have whittled mine down to the lemon, three (for now!) bird of paradise, a few orchids and a handful of other tropicals. The lemon, birds of paradise and orchids go out for the summer. I used to have camellias and a gardenia, and some cacti, but I have relegated myself to growing only the ones of those three families that can stay out all winter. I have several camellias and cacti, and one gardenia. The camellias and gardenia have some browned/burnt leaves, but then we did have that one very cold snap where it got down to -9 degrees one night. That was the coldest here in 30 years, so a good test. The hardy camellias, gardenia and cacti are every bit as nice as the tender ones, even more so because they can really grow better than potted plants. Of course, I really don't (can't) carry all those heavy pots anymore anyway, but it's fine. The camellias are starting to bloom now. The cacti bloom in June/July, and the gardenia probably late July/August.

Agree, it looks like Aloe ciliaris. Here's is my plant almost 4 years ago. You can see how the leaves connect to the stem. It's one of the climbing Aloes. I planted mine in the ground. This is the same plant last summer. I haven't done anything to it and it has spread. I think I could have picked a better spot for it! And I think I'll prune some and start a plant in my backyard under a big Yucca 'tree'.

Seth Welcome to the Cacti & Succulents forum :) Looks like you have few very nice plants and keep them in very nice pots. Are those pots decorative/cachepots or are plants potted directly in them? Your plant, which I am not absoluely sure what the exact ID is, needs lots more light. You didn't mention area/growing zone you are in, but most of us are having winter and that means low light. The window frame is shading it even more. If nothing else, pls. move it in spot that is not obstructed. It still may not be enough, but every little helps. Etiolation happens when plant is starving for light. Leaves shouldn't be drooping down. The also should grow quite compact - close together. There shodn't be much of stem/trunk visible between the leaves. I hope you don't mind mentioning this - you didn't ask. But plant will look much better - and will be easier to ID properly - if it grows the way it should.

Good catch, Hillary, If I'm not too late, pls do not cut anything off, you're liable to cut too much off & the plant will collapse if you cut into its crown. Looks like you got it just in time. Rina gave good advice, I was going to suggest the cinnamon too. I don't usually wash the roots, I crumble the soil off dry. But washing it here actually allowed us to see you DO have some viable roots there; seems all is NOT lost. Sprinkle the Cinnamon on the roots, then pls pick the plant up & shake off the excess. Then pot it up DRY & pls do not water it for 3-4 days at least to allow the roots to heal any injury from them being handled. Perlite will definitely work in place of pumice, don't know abt the gravel, it may be too big. After all is done, just as curiosity, wash off that netting thing & pls see if you can spread it open btwn your fingers. I think it's some kind of synthetic mesh; they don't usually degrade over time. I don't know what these nurseries are thinking; but I'd be curious to see it clean, splay out btwn your fingers. Its presence would explain why the pups are pushing up & out thru the center of the plant, instead of the regular coming out from nearby or underneath the mother plant. I recently repotted a ZZ plant plant, only to find a large piece of screen stuck to the bottom of the plant's roots. One never knows what one might find. Great save!! We look forward to updates in future.
