Trichocereus peruvianus

i was wondering if anyone could point me to somewhere in queensland i could purchase some seeds for this cactus and also Lophophora williansii. i was also wondering how cacti grow in tropical north queensland.

Just watch your watering (not too much) and your cacti will grow fine there - until you eat them that is... ;)

I grow cacti in the tropics ,a well draining gravelly mix,is required.
I also bring my cacti in out of the tropical rain storms during the wet season ,I just put them undercover of the eaves of the house,until I get to build a waterproof greenhouse.

Well, I chopped it and moved it to under the porch so the flesh doesn't get fried by our still-intense sunlight. Fingers crossed. Interestingly, the other one which didn't get quite the soaking, has some smallish black spots around an area that was "tasted" by one of the more adventurous pocket gophers or pack rats around here. THOSE spots are actually hard - so I'm wondering if those are fungal. . . or just dead skin. I'm keeping an eye on both of them - I feel like if I can just get them through the summer and monsoon, they should be ok! I didn't know that about the sulfur, Waz, thanks for the info and I'll definitely get my hands on some for future fungus emergencies!
