Trichocereus peruvianus

i was wondering if anyone could point me to somewhere in queensland i could purchase some seeds for this cactus and also Lophophora williansii. i was also wondering how cacti grow in tropical north queensland.

Just watch your watering (not too much) and your cacti will grow fine there - until you eat them that is... ;)

I grow cacti in the tropics ,a well draining gravelly mix,is required.
I also bring my cacti in out of the tropical rain storms during the wet season ,I just put them undercover of the eaves of the house,until I get to build a waterproof greenhouse.

Cacti of just about all persuasions like a very well drained soil. They also don't like much organic matter in the soil. You can actually buy premixed soils from any good nursery. If you want to make your own, there are many many different recipes. All based on good drainage. This year I myself have used a mix of 2/3 decomposed granite that has been washed to remove the very fine clayish particles, and 1/3 normal dirt from under the lawn.

What nurseries stock here is usually quite random. You (or this mysterious other person, lol) would be better off to just mail order plants from one of those places advertising on this page, and save the running around. There are enough places out there specialising in selling cacti for drug use that have a few different Trichocerei available. At least you'd know what you're getting.
