you are right about the first one it is a stetsonia coryne i rescued mine from a walgreens pharmacy since i got it it has grown about three inches (i bought it around christmas 08) good luck

If you are after orchids, you would be wise to get in touch with the various orchid societies which abound in Sydney. You can then go along to one of their meetings if one takes place during your visit and either buy plants thru the sales table or meet the members and buy directly from them. Most do grow other tropical plants besides orchids. And some like myself are very reasonable. It's true that you will find a lot of variety further up north and some sellers are fair but I did find some sellers there rather expensive. You have to be selective where ever you go. Some people are only in plants for the money and will rip you off given the opportunity. You will know these people almost immediately from the prices they charge, the size of the plants they sell and the so called rarity of the plants they sell. I have to say that my tropical plants are doing very well and a lot of other tropical plants growers that I know of in Sydney have no problems either with a wide variety of tropical plants.

Problem is that the minimum order is $100, plus $25 for freight: "Minimum Order of $100 excluding freight applies. As a wholesale supplier to retail nurseries throughout Australia it is our policy to offer home orchardists mail orders exceeding $100. For smaller quantities please visit DaleyÂs Nursery Retail Section or contact us for the ÂRecommended Retailer closest to you." I haven't been able to find a list of recommended retailers on the website, or find any online info about the retail section of the nursery.

Due to time constraints, I was only able to visit one nursery during my weekend visit. We went to Grigsbys. This was a typical place where their main emphasis is mail order or wholesale, not retail. That means it is not very well kept, plants are not very organized and parking is very limited. You wander up and down the place, walking through several greenhouses, then if you find an interesting plant; it is not for sale, because it doesn't have a price tag on it. Anyway, I purchased three plants from them. First an Euphorbia Aeruginosa, minor an Euphorbia Genoudiana and finally, a Pachypodium Namaquanum Thank you to you all who gave me the info. in finding this place. I will go back if I happen to be driving thru the area or visiting nearby.
