Thanks for answering. Yes, I've been to Tropiflora several times when I lived a little further North, but now its too far to drive, 3 hours each way. I'm looking for "tree Aloe" types now and they didn't carry too much in that area from what I remember. As for the phone book, many times I'm not prepared with exact names, I just wait until something catches my eye. Usually between asking here and on Craig's List, someone has gone through the hunt before and can recommend a place. Thanks again! Joss

Karlos If your out west the best place for you to go would be Hamiltons World of Cati - they are just out of Blacktown. Look them up on the net for details. They are not necessarily cheap but they have a large range of cacti and succulents - worth checking out!

Due to time constraints, I was only able to visit one nursery during my weekend visit. We went to Grigsbys. This was a typical place where their main emphasis is mail order or wholesale, not retail. That means it is not very well kept, plants are not very organized and parking is very limited. You wander up and down the place, walking through several greenhouses, then if you find an interesting plant; it is not for sale, because it doesn't have a price tag on it. Anyway, I purchased three plants from them. First an Euphorbia Aeruginosa, minor an Euphorbia Genoudiana and finally, a Pachypodium Namaquanum Thank you to you all who gave me the info. in finding this place. I will go back if I happen to be driving thru the area or visiting nearby.

Hi Rina, thanks for taking the time to help me! It's in half succulent/cacti soil (from my local nursery) and half perlite, mixed together, with those pebbles you can see just on top. At the moment temperatures have been between about 15 and 25ºC, and humidity is pretty consistently around 60-70%, which is to say pretty dry for Sydney! We've had a lot of sun for the last few weeks, but before that we had a month of solid rain and cloudy weather. I move the plant outside every day if I know it's sunny, so it's in my front garden- East facing. It gets direct sunlight from about 6.30am to 1pm. I don't have any North facing windows in my house (North gets the most sun in the Southern Hemisphere, not South), so it's pretty much in the sunniest place I can get it. On days like today though, where rain is predicted, I keep it and my other succulents inside. As I said, it was incredibly spread out and in need of sun when I first got it, and now I think it's improved, but yeh I'm sure it would like more sun if I could give it! We're heading into winter now, so days are a bit shorter.
