We're in Brisbane and we have heaps of them in the house. The night is alive with their chirping, and unfortunately the floors and shelves are covered with their poo.

I like them because they eat the bugs, but I just wish they would get constipated now and again.

Luckily all of ours are outside. The occasional one that finds his way in we catch and put outside. These are not the native geckos but an import.

reckon though they are a ferel in real; terms they will be doing more good for you than a few droppings around the place, figure like us they can't produce solid output without solid imput hey? so bet they are eating lots of bugs that are getting in namely cockroaches and mossies not to mention flies and moths.

we ahve them (only a couple or so) and giant green tree frogs in our home we also don't have cockroaches, it's called paying the piper hey bet their dropping aren't as toxic to you as the chemicals used in pest control.

Its such a shame there are so many native and introduced species that have become feral/plague proportions. Deer, foxes, and it now seems geckos.....But we'd all be complaining if there was no wildlife though wouldn't we......

I have been lamenting the loss of Gecko's since we have had a Monitor Lizard living in our roof, I used to enjoy seeing them. I expect the Monitor will move on eventually and we will have the Gecko's back.

We have King Skinks living in the ceiling, but they don't come into the house or keep us awake at night, so we don't mind. In fact we are rather grateful as since they moved in we haven't had rats in the ceiling as we had previously. Plenty of skinks in the garden too, but the only thing in the veggie patch they like are strawberries, and there are enough of them for us to share.

Give me a gecko any day instead of the spiders. I don't know what it is around this area but ever since we moved here we have been inundated with spiders. A few I don't mind and I know they do a good job keeping pests down but I don't like stumbling out of bed in the dark in the mornings and walk through several webs between doorways (every morning) on my way to the coffee or when we sit at the table and find webs around our legs. It doesn't matter whether I vacuum the spiders and webs everyday or resort to sprays (last resort) they are always here. Luckily it is just the little common reddish/brown house spider though we often have large wolf spiders (large enough to give a serious bite to the kids) running across the floor at night and the occasional huntsman (they're ok though they can be BIG especially on the wall beside the bed!).

The occasional gecko we get doesn't make very much mess especially compared to the spider webs or mess the green frogs make in the bathroom.

We live in an old queenslander house and it is virtually impossible to seal all the gaps. We share the house with at least 2 Carpet snakes (in the roof or under the house I hope) They regularly shed their skins around the place. The geckos are breeding up - which is great to see, we all love to watch them hunting. We dont spray and the only cockroaches we see usually fly in. I would rather die of gecko poo poisoning than exposure to pesticide. We have numerous spider webs around the verandahs - I just cant bring myself to destroy all that work, and we seldom get redbacks which our more houseproud neighbours have in plague proportions. The gecko poo is nothing compared with the deposits of the micro bat which rests in the toilet and misses every time, instead ,leaving a collection on the floor beside the pedestal - but all this is nothing when I think of the alternative. I dont want to live in an airconditioned, toxic, sealed up box so I just live and let live and hope that the carpet snakes dont come through the open doors and into my bed while Im in it.

I absolutely love geckos!!! They dont pose as much of a threat :3

i just want to know how to get rid of them as nicely as possible. altogether ! any ideas/ ???

not sure how you can get rid of them, i have found that if they accidently slip inside a house that is screened they usually don't live long as they dehydrate and suffer from lack of food.

where we live now has a few not many but all outside.

one of those have to live with scenerios.
