I had a seedling pop up near my Jacaranda amongst the rocks about six years ago. I pulled it up like a weed, as I usually do. This time the the root came up in its entirety...no breakage so I planted it over on the hillside on county property. It was about two feet tall at the time. It bloomed I believe it's third year also at about ten feet tall. It didn't bloom the next year however. It's tall and spindly now...about 20 feet but bloomed nicely this year. As it fills out, I expect it to be a nice tree. -Ron-

Jaccarandas may bloom better in sandy soil than rich soil. They like full sun to bloom best. plants grown from seeds will take longer to bloom than those that are gown from cuttings or are grafted. Hope that helps.

although I have never had any Jacaranda I can say that they bloom all summer till November in the warmer parts of Greece.I went to collect some seed on Crete.It was late October and it was still blooming, but had produced enough seeds the same year. I tried some plants here in northern Greece but they freezed.

Hi, I've got a jacaranda grown from seeds 9 years ago. It grows very fast so I had to prune it a few years ago. Now the plant has started to flower which I am very happy about. However I see some flowers starting to dry up and perish. Some don't. The remaining flowers still have to open up. There is a light purple color noticeable. What happened with the dead flowers? I keep the plant in a pot and during summer it stays outside in full sun. In winter I keep it inside in the brightest and coolest place I have at about 60.8F (16°C). In winter I did not give much water but now when it's blooming I tend to give more and sometimes with fertilizer. During good days, I keep the plant outside now but at night I keep it inside. I do have to tell that I made one crucial beginner's mistake, which I have never done before . A few weeks ago I put the plant outside for the first time this year with lots of sunshine. I never do this with my plants but somehow this time I did not realize as I was so happy with the flowers. thank you for your replies best regards Yves
