Borage

I notice that where borage has self-seeded in the vegie garden not much is doing well around it.
The plants are vast and lush; the bees are ecstatic. The nearby peas are miserable as, and the shallots are positively shy, though further away the chives are booming.
Borage and my roses seem to be exclusive. Despite being a mere seed-spit away, borage does not develop in the rose garden.
What other plant antipathies have been noticed? (Save myself unnecessary disappointment!)

Wow, I've never seen any reference to Borage inhibiting growth! Maybe thats SILs problem - she's got it surrounding her entire vege patch and I put the poor vege growth down to being on peat swamp. Maybe I should abvise her to pull it out! I had a look on the link below, but it doesn't say anything bad about it. Sorry you're having problems.

If they're not hurting anything and they're not on your food crops, why not just let it be? I throw borage seeds around the outside of my compost pile every spring and it always grows like gangbusters and attracts all sorts of native bees and insects. I also have little black ants in the yard, and aside from keeping them out of the house, I tend to just ignore them. They don't generally harm healthy plants. If you notice they're farming aphids, that's the time to selectively apply Neem and look at tanglefoot, but other than that...

I'm sure they'll grow away and be fine. Borage is tough stuff. The damage appears to be on the seed leaves only. They shrivel and drop off anyway.

Top appears to be Comfrey. Milkweeds have oppositely arranged foliage which, as far as I can tell, neither of your other plants has. (Top down photos make this difficult to confirm.) They may be weedy Erigerons or Solidagos.

one plant returned from seed. i planted new seed in the spring. an interesting thing is that the 2nd crop is super lush compared to the 1st crop. does borage prefer cooler weather or shade?
