Liquid ammonia (or cloudy ammonia) would be disasterous to most if not all plants. It would blow the pH through the ceiling. Can't see any advantage in using beer, other than attracting snails (if that could be called an advantage). Nothing wrong with Epsom Salts (magnesium sulphate), if fact it can be very beneficial. Just that I would dilute it more than a 1/2 cup to 2 cups of water. But ammoniun sulphate wouldn't be an issue. Although, a bit too much could get you good leaf growth, but a lack flowering.

Thanks for the advice tropicbreezent. I'm trying to get some good leaf growth going as lots of the leaves dropped off from our first very hot round of summer heat. This is normal behaviour each year but this year I'm not getting good leaf growth and some parts of the plant aren't putting out any growth at all. Parts were some growth started have stopped and those leaves are very small. I'm looking for a quick boost so it looks leafy for my daughters engagement party on 15 Feb. Potash will get the flowers going but its leaf growth I need as they look woody. I've attached a pic. (It is an Audrey Tropical Hibiscus. I have 5 of them). Ta Jo:)
