I've got a good sized two year old plant growing in a container. Would you like me to see if I can split off a smaller division for you? I might be able get a division that will fit in a flat rate priority box and would be happy to send it to you for postage. Lynda

I have mine potted, sitting in a southern window... it's growing well and has nice leaves, but no flower yet... if yours is blooming outdoors in zone 6, and mine is indoors... shouldn't it have bloomed by now? I wasn't aware Bletilla was hardy into zone 5... I would have planted it directly in the garden. Perhaps I should take it to the garden and place it in the bulb bed... it would get nice sun most of the day... or I could find a partially protected spot that got a bit less sun... I'm wondering what would be the best course of action... I really want to see it bloom!

Hi Have tried to grow those in s. florida with disappointing results . They require a cool cold rest period though there a couple of types much more tolerant. but still require a distinct chill to do well. There are sites that will give you temp ranges and durations for the various types. I keep my Venus fly traps in the fridge during winter which works BUT often get mold . Have that problem with Bletilla?? My wife insists on keeping food in the fridge which I'm sure is the problem but a separate fridge just for a few plants?? lol gary
