Gardening in New Zealand

Anyone know about Brazilia

Hello my fellow gardeners down there. I am looking for information regarding Brazilia, or Frogs Balls, as I am told it is called. I grow cut flowers here in S. Oregon and saw a bouquet being made including this plant. I cannot find any information on its culture other than it is from New Zealand. If anyone, in that most beautiful country on earth, can give me any information, I would be most grateful. Thank you and happy gardening.

Kat - I am willing to dialogue on this.

What else can you tell me about the plant? (The ID you provided drew a blank first time round.)

Was it an export from here? Was it shrubby or herbaceous? Which season? Flowers? Or foliage? (That sort of thing.)

Vetivert, thanks for the response. I realise that my description was a bit vague, so I will try to expand a bit but I did not see the plant close enough to touch it. It appeared to be shrubby, I think, and the 'balls' on it were pale green berries, small, about 1/8 inch perhaps even smaller, and there were lots of them bunched together, hence the reference to frog spawn. It had a lanceolate leaf I think. I would assume that the season would have been your summer as it was a late winter early spring bouquet and the bouquet maker said that it came from New Zealand. And that, is that! I would love to know more about it, obviously, but I cant get any information from any florist here.

Podocarpus Maki plant anyone know anything about it?

I disagree but I'm going to defer to the expertise of others on this one, largely. My counterevidence is that I have had a Podocarpus sprout from the base after a cold winter. Even the growth of the one I've had since then which hasn't been damaged, is very BLE like, and it tends to break from the base. I feel like many a hedge of Podocarpus has been started with plants looking like that or worse. BTW I can only assume the ones I saw in a parking lot island were 'Pringles' the supposedly very compact one. Thanks for the reminder on the cultivar name, I'd read about it somewhere. In fact now that I think about it, some of them might have still had a label on them!

Using shims/wedges works if the "beams" were applied to the surface after the wall and ceiling were finished. But, if they aren't simply decorative and are deeper than the wall surface or extend above the ceiling surface then it is going to be more complex. And you will have a bit of repair work to do afterwards, whatever you find.
