I would not get a faux one unless you think it is really close. Otherwise you will probably never be happy with it and still be out a few hundred. Light fixtures can easily approach 5-10k, and on up if you go vintage, or esp. something very large and crystal. I splurged on Urban Electric light fixtures for our entry hall, Charles Edwards for the craft room, and a reworked vintage street lamp for our (very high ceilinged) living room. I recall an ID friend referring to them as "jewelry" for a room, and the term can be apt as they really do dress up a room and make a statement. They are an art form in a way... Having now lived with my lighting splurges 3 years, and, as we embark on our vacation home remodel, I have tried to keep all light fixtures in the new house to 1500 or less, in most cases under 500. The reason? Two things. One, i realize that, like jewelry, lights are one of the trendiest things that most quickly date a room. And they are the easiest thing to change out. That suggests that cheaper is a better idea. That way you can indulge with new trends. My Charles Edwards chandy is one of those where a traditional chandy peaks out from the bottom of a drum shade; kwim? Already out, or at least now mass-marketed. Secondly, I realize that, unlike, say, a good kitchen cabinet drawer, or a high end appliance, a light does not function any better just because it is more costly. You don't even touch or feel or interact with a chandy once it is up; it's not like you use it in a way that you can feel the quality. My UE lanterns are probably a far better gauge of metal than the knockoffs, but so what? It's not like opening and closing a car door, where you do feel the difference in luxury every day. So ... in conclusion. Keep your eye on it. It may be the "art" you really want in a room. But, generally, don't even look at pricey lights. There are lots of great choices at good prices, IMHO

I can relate. I fell in love with my granite months ago and it was installed last week. I just keep saying "I love my granite. I love my granite." My husband is thrilled that I am so happy. He was so worried I was going to be dissapointed or not like my kitchen as much as I thought I would. I think I like it more than I thought I would. If you think you are in love now, just wait until it is installed!
