I had a few minutes before my helper got here for day two of the Paul Bunyan adventure so I went to Amazon and looked at their offerings. I agree, I don't think I would purchase a mouse without seeing/testing it physically for feel and comfort, but it was a one-stop look-see. Hopefully this is the last question as I feel lazy in not researching this myself. I just don't have the time right now and the old mouse is "circling in the bowl". I would hate to transfer a ten year old two-button mouse from the garage system onto this system. Their seems to be an extensive price range, $12.00 to $99.00. My thoughts are to stay around $30.00 or less. Am I on the right track? I have plenty of rechargeable batteries around so that will not be a concern. Cat, You missed out. In May the chainsaw and I were down your way doing our thing at my son's. If I had known I would have stopped by. I will be down again in three weeks as we have some more work to do inside. We are finally going to put up the shelves and install the doors on the walk-in closet I built in their master bedroom when he had his back surgery. Plus, a few other things. DA

sshrivastava, unfortunately, the real reason that appliance and detergent manufacturers are unable to answer questions accurately or produce informative manuals is that the general public in the US is not interested in these things. Most people want a washer and detergent that will "clean" their laundry in 30 minutes, and dry the load in the same amount of time. They really don't care if the water is heated or not, if the detergent residue is rinsed out or not or if the detergent has OBs or not. All they want is for their laundry to be magically cleaner looking and smelling "fresh". In my mind, it is the average consumer who drives the level of information and service available. In other words, we get what we deserve. And I'm saying "we" in the general sense, not we as posters on this board. This is the only place where I have met people who care about their appliances and cleaning products enough to research and agonize over smallest details ;-)

Unfortunately, my mom is in her final days and needed me to care for her for several days after her birthday party. She's oxygen dependent (on 5+ if that means anything to you) and the power company turned off the electricity for the entire day without notice. Fortunately I was there and we made the switch to a portable unit - actually 2 since the first wasn't working properly. The oxygen company was great and put in an emergency order for an oxygen unit that provided continual feed. It was a scary day. Somehow the garbage disposal switch didn't seem like a pressing question. Really though, the cabinets should be here in about 2 weeks, so things need to be done and decisions made (we're DIY'ing). I'm leaning towards going with the air switch, but I still need to consider that more carefully. I really appreciate your sharing what you found out.

So, in my continuing quest for answers on this, I called Waste King (Anaheim Manufacturing) who is supposed to be the one who has it. They weren't able to really help me a tremendous amount other than to put me in touch with the manufacturer of the fiber optic controller...who was incredibly kind and talked with me for a bit. The website for the direct manufacturer is fiberswitch.com According to Al (the gentleman I spoke with), their biggest sales are in the CA area and he said that the fabricators there are routinely drilling a 3/8" hole in the granite with a masonry bit to make a place for the fiber optic button. We discussed the possibility of cabinet mounting it also (fishing the fiber optic cord from under the sink, up through the wall, and mounting in the upper cabinet area) and he said that would be a possibility as long as we didn't have too tight of a radius turn - you have to have at least a 4" diameter area....so no right turns. As I understood it, he said that the tighter the turn, the more chance of the light degrading. That makes sense. So, at this point, I'm back to trying to talk with my fabricator to see what they might be able to do and if not them, then I'll possibly try Plan B (cabinet mounting).
