I have been trying different layouts on paper. Below is my latest draft showing a single level of pipes. There are two systems for each greenhouse, one for the internal heat sink and one for the outside. The outside system is intended for greenhouse cooling when the inside heat sink has reached capacity. Both return the air to the original greenhouse. The intake plenums are now in the north corners farthest from the doors. The outside systems each have a single exit from the greenhouse through the lowest level of the greenhouse foundation wall and two return entries. There will be underground plenums on each side of the holes in the foundation wall to facilitate tubing attachments at the different levels. We are planning on using plastic totes for the underground plenums. Estimated tube lengths is 16 feet. 6x16=96 feet. The inside systems will have three tubes on each level with a tube under each growing bed and one under the walkway. These will continue into the central shed area and loop back to exit on the north side of the greenhouse near the door. Since the foundation wall under the greenhouse doors does not need to support much, multiple levels can have sideways blocks. Estimated tube lengths is 22 feet. 9x22=198 feet. 96 + 198 = 294 feet of tubing per greenhouse. The estimate from the SHCS calculator was 120 feet of 4" tubing for each greenhouse. I will use 4" for the outside systems and maybe 3" for the inside since the space is limited and the length is exceeded. The pipe levels for the east and west greenhouses will probably be offset by 6 inches in the central shed area. However, there are three places where the pipes for a single greenhouse cross. Should I put an air block between the pipes where the pipes are too close? How close is too close? Thanks in advance for your feedback. I fell asleep on the keyboard again. You should be OK with just about anything. I was at the logitech site taking a look at the G3. It looks like its Logitech's answer to the Razer Copperhead. I guess with the G3 you have the option of just plugging it in or downloading the drivers. You do have the option of switching back and forth or between 800 and 1600 DPI before you download the drivers...and I'm not quite sure what that means. I don't know if that means you can choose which of the two DPI's you want or if it means you can switch back and forth between them at your leisure if you don't download the drivers. Amazon is selling it at 47.00...we are getting higher in price. There are only three user reviews ... but it looks comfortable to use, and if it is plug in and go...with the option of downloading Setpoint (what you use to program your mouse ... if you want) nothing could be easier. Its a thought.

Thanks everyone. The more I learn the more uncertain I am. The Asus' sound good - and I know Raven loves hers - but when I look at the negative reviews (on varous sites), there seems to be significant quality control issues. Lots of lemons - and defects - and terrible cusotmer service. There's enough of that type of review that I hesitate to buy an Asus tablet. I saw a google nexus 10. I prefer it to have a microsd card slot - not have fixed storage like an ipad. It also just did not feel or look good to me. Genes - you may be right about not finding that kind of battery life for video play. I thought that ipads were (at least older generations) got 9-10 hours of video play. On the one hand, i would expect video to be one of the biggest battery drains. But perhaps surfing the web - downloading content, etc also consumes battery life. Urlee - I interpreted that quote about really killing the tablet - and what battery life it gets - to suggest that even using it to the max - he gets 6 hours - and thinks "regular?" use could get 10 hours. Of course, we don't know what "regular is". That kind of leaves the Samsung tablets - either galaxy tab 10.1 - or Note. The actual pen aspect of the note doesn't do anything for me (maybe I'd wind up loving it - but it's not on my list of desireable features). I just saw a refurbished note at Best Buy for about $330 (something like that - I had a small credit - and there was tax). 500-600. They're often closer to $So I decided to order it and give it a try. It's supposed to be fast - 2GB ram - with ICS. I have not seen one in person. This has just 16GB on board storage - but with a micro sd slot, that doesn't matter since I can add 64GB more. For some reason, this Note doesn't excite me in theory the way the Asus tablets did. But the relatively large number of complaints (and consistent complaints) on Asus have made me pause. Mike - I am aware that many international flights have power ports. But we have not been that lucky in our last international flights. These flights have been booked through an educational tour group - and therefore the airline has been very reluctant to give us any information. I know we're in a Boeing 777. But from Seat Guru it looks like there are 5 different versions. And the one that looks closest to the seating chart on Delta's website - does not have power ports in economy. One seating chart looked like it might. Another suggested just ipod/iphone charging in economy - no tablets or laptops. But none of the charts on seat guru quite match what's on Delta. If there were power ports, that would make this easy. But my experience is, don't count on power ports. First - they may not be in economy. And if they are, they may not be at every seat. And even if they're there, doesn't mean they're working. (Heck - 2 of the last 4 domestic flights I took - the readling light for my seat was not working - and the flights were full - no reading for me (this was before i had the Nook). If I could really count on power ports that work - I'd just bring my nook tablet for now. But it's been acting up in terms of battery drain lately - and I don't want to risk this as my only entertainment. I'll keep everyone posted. Thanks. Lynn.

The gold standard is a gas fired direct vent insert, the safest, most energy efficient system. But it is not an open fireplace. it is a sealed firebox fitted into your existing firebox equipped with two vents that go up the chimney -- one to exhaust the fumes, the other to bring in fresh air from outside to feed the combustion. Indoor air quality is never affected -- hence the safety. And it puts out heat like a blast furnace. You need a remote thermostat that turns the thing on and off to maintain the heat setting. These units are not inexpensive and are not a DIY installation. But they are the best. And many come with a propane adaptor. Unvented system are considered a health and safety hazard and are a vilation of building codes in many communities. See Consumer Reports discussion about that.
