Because of my soil, many of my roses are in containers. I asked a friend of mine the other day, who stole October? where had it gone? Then she pointed out that because of the continuing drought, that I had spent about a month more doing nothing but watering. True to form, yesterday, before we went for Thanksgiving dinner, I spent the day watering again (the soil is also bone dry now). A friend of mine in Kansas is closing her plant nursery because of the drought. The stock animals and the wild animals are in bad shape. So what does my DH choose to show last night after dinner. A taped recording of Ken Burns the "Dust bowl"....... The drought will end one day, but until then do what you can to save the plants. I was told once that droughts go in groups of 3 years, 7 years and 10 years. Let's hope it's the 3 year cycle this time.....Maryl

Rugosa's are a good example (not all of them). Much like the invasive orange daylily they send roots that roots that are thick and can go far from the original plant to come up and start a new plant. Had one that in its second year I noticed little rugosa's coming up some 5 feet from the mother I pulled and dug a little and it ran back to the mother plant. Mom was removed along with all the babies. Ramblers do this also by increasing quickly closer to the plant ( I think ).

That was super frustrating I was out in the Sacramento area and I could not get to photos to sync or post and I could not get the Facebook to send a message to Star Roses, but when I got home to my desk top, I could do it. Here is the French Lace. I had Dark Night and I did not take a photo, but it also had two canes that were bright red that grew up in the wrong way. Now I really wish I had a photo of that Dark Night. I really wish this is spring dwarfism. I have more photos, but I can't find that camera right now. I took these with my phone. But, the photos in that camera show other of the roses near it was some signs of it, but nothing as extreme as this one. I hope I can find at some point and post those. Unfortunately the link posted looks nothing like Dwarfism due to Mosaic and in big huge letters it says, THIS PAGE IS BEING WRITTEN. PLEASE DISREGARD THE INFORMATION ON ROSE MOSAIC VIRUS BELOW. If I saw the rose listed as in the photo, there I would think that is ok, and proably buy it. I like to buy sickly plants and nursery them back to health to show up my skills, but that Dark Night did not give me anything to go with. Like the photos I have, it had no leaves at all and only witches brooms instead of leaves and the nursery seller has been tricked by the Star Rose Rep into leaving those plants right next to all the healthy ones. We are not able to reason with Nursery Owner who probably does not use the Internet and does not know or care very much about roses either.

I love the hot pink carpet one. Boy I would have them going along the entire length of our fence at the back :D But not sure if the ones whom own the senior building would allow it. Also too I have yet to see any of them in our garden centers here. But maybe I could keep an eye out for one next year as well as an Aurora borealis. Would have better luck getting the last one I bet. My bus trips are limited during the week due to the corona virus crisis Also too anybody that had a vehicle to get any had an advantage over my having to take the bus. Finding it hard too to find the hanging planters of flowers. Seemed they all went as fast as what the toilet paper did:) Usually can get one from Walmart but not this year. Only other way is to buy an empty hanging basket and buy like some sun type begonias or impatiens or wave petunias and some dirt and do one myself.
