I love that kitchen also. I posted that picture for someone over in the kitchen forum a few weeks ago who was thinking about a white tile floor and it got lots of negative comments about keeping it clean, which I totally understand. Love the look though, and the appliances are to die for!

Love the windows in there. What I don't love and do not understand is the glass fridge. Some things just need to be hidden =)

I have a glass fridge door and most people don't get it; I love seeing what's in my fridge, I don't like a white fridge door with magnets and notes all over, so go figure !!!!!

Thanks for posting, Newdawn. I've been looking for pictures of kitchens with black counters, white cabinets and white backsplashes. I have the black counters and white subways already and have been wondering if painting my cabs white would be something to consider. For me, this all-white kitchen is just a little too sterile looking for me. I need color!

I love the kitchen and and now I like it. I so wish I had talent for designing spaces since it must be a lot of fun to come up with new idea either in elements in the room are being an architect.

I love the tile and brick. Always wanted a glass fridge, but way too $$$ and don't care THAT much LOL! I'm not sure I like all the stainless steel appliances, but I'm weird that way. And most of the cabinets that I see are way too high to be practical. I'm guessing there is more accessible storage out of the camera's view. Maybe even a pantry in which case I'm totally jealous.

Thanks for posting! I love white kitchens. I'm with the others that I like the concept of a glass fridge, but the contents of mine isn't really all that appealing to look at!

What's with all stainless drawers to the left of the fridge? Are those just regular drawers, or fridge drawers or what? I think it would look better if they were regular white cabinetry. Too much stainless.

I think that floor would be easy to keep clean! The tiles are so small, nothing would show up and the dark grout would hide any dirt. Love the windows and range!

Beautiful kitchen! I especially love those windows. My bestfriend and one of my sisters both had white tile floors. "Had" ;^P They looked gorgeous . . . when they were clean but got dirty so easily and quickly! Within a few months both were hating their floors. My sis ended up moving before she could replace hers. My bestfriend had hers torn out and replaced.
I appreciate beautiful rooms, but appreciate even more the ones that figure Practicality into the design, as well.

Although it's nice to have lots of windows they can be hard for a short person (like me) to open if you have to lean over a counter and push the window up. Casements would be easier.

I also don't want the world seeing the contents of my fridge!

It's just a kitchen I thought was good looking. Most of you guys don't completely like it. Because of the stainless steel and white floor and high cabinets.

I know it is not practical, but I am not practical. And I have paid a price for that. lol And besides I could never afford such a kitchen. But one can dream, no?

I don't care for the open fridge either and I would much rather have a hardwood floor, other than that it is a "to die for" kitchen.

With all those hard surfaces, it must be a very noisy kitchen. And all those open spaces under the appliances must be really hard to keep clean. Conclusion: a kitchen for show, not for actual use.

I don't like it. The storage cabinets over the range and fridge are too high to get to. Who wants to get a ladder out and climb over a stove and range hood? Even for seldom used items it would be a PITA. There does not seem to be any other upper cabinet storage except the glass door one next to the stove. Hardly any storage at all even. If there is a pantry connected to the KT it looks like it would be too far away too.

The center island is on caster wheels and they accompanying text over the photo says it is too heavy to move. It would be a PITA to clean the floor around those wheels all the time and to do a really good job cleaning under the that behemoth. All those grout line will really trap the dirt. Those octagon tile looks cool but larger tiles or even a smooth pured floor would be more practical. It would be a nightmare to clean under the raised appliances too.

The shelf over the stovetop is so high and I don't think I would like reaching over the flames on the stove to get to my spices and tools. I think things would get real greasy up there too.

Like nessie said, the windows are hard to get to open.

Who needs an energy hog like that commercial glass door fridge. Retail establiments use them to display the items for sale and they are orderly. A typical person's fridge at home has half empty condiments, leftover to-go food, meat defrosting, half eaten baby food jars and pet food cans.....not a pretty sight.

I have seen many white kitchens that I think are fabulous but this one doesn't do it for me. I think it comes off as rather cold and industrial looking. I do like the windows and I think the lights over the island are pretty cool. I also can't imagine having to make the inside of my refrigerator look good. The inside of my frig is usually a mess!

newdawn, of course you can dream! I hope you don't feel "ripped" by posters negative comments (like mine). Sometimes it takes another pair of eyes to point out something impractical or what could just use improvement in each persons opinion. I enjoyed seeing your dream kitchen even though it may not be the same as mine.

BTW, I really loved the floor. I've never seen that pattern made before with those kind of tiles. WOW!

I could get used to complaining about how hard the floor is to keep clean if I had such a large top end kitchen. I would have to get used to the steel drawers to the right of the stove- I would probably bump into them a lot. And the only thing I dont care for is the lighting.BUT other than that- I would take it in a heartbeat! It is a beautiful kitchen to me.
Our old houses around here have tile like that in the bathrooms- only not in such a cool pattern( and yeah I tore mine out it was not in good shape and Now I wish I didnt) It wasnt any harder than other floors to keep clean even with little guys who loved to get really muddy.

I have to say "ditto". There's something about it that vaguely reminds me of a morgue. (Or at least my *idea* of a morgue, since I'm actually not too familiar with them...)

Not my style at all. It's much too 'laboratory looking' and doesn't 'say' homey, warm, inviting~the main things *I* look for in doing any room. Waaaaaay too white!! Too cold~yep reno, morgue would be the right word.

I love it - the star is a "pass- thru frig" - does this mean you can access it from the room on the other side?

It looks like a classroom at a cooking school. Something less than home-like about it. If I had a kitchen that big, I'd want a fridge like that.

I like it but I'm partial to white kitchens...especially white cabinets and white subway tiles. The only thing I don't like is the floor and the flower pattern. On camera it reads as a blue-white which doesn't quite go with the warm white in the cabinetry and wall tile. It is unique though, I have never seen a kitchen floor done with that size tile. Normally they're in bathrooms. As long as the grout starts out dark so you can't tell it's become dirty would it be practical because there's no way you could scrub that grout by hand.

On second thought, the floor tile comes across as a grey-white because there is so much grey grout. A cool shade of white on the floor against a warm shade of white on the vertical surfaces...that's what isnt't working to my eye. Is that what everyong is thinking or just me?

IIRC, that fridge does "pass through" to a substantial pantry on the other side.

I dare not say this on the kitchens board, but I am really not excited by the whiteinsetcabinetblackcounter look any more. It is beautiful but I have just seen it over and over again. Personally, I cannot imagine having a variation-on-a-theme kitchen. Admittedly, my kitchens are usually a bit "out there" and not to everyone's taste. :-)

Oh Neesie honey I don't feel "ripped" at all, your so sweet. Meanwhile, I have a country kitchen totally opposite of this one. But my upper cabinets are so high and my windows are so high. I am use to dragging out the stool and the ladder to clean windows and get hard to reach items.

But this kitchen did make the cover ladies, I'm just saying. lol

The kitchen is beautiful, except for the floor. That style floor means bathroom to me.

Yep, you are right reno. I couldn't put my finger on it but it does remind me of a morgue. A morgue in an old, haunted, turn of the last century, hospital.

No dilly I am not taking this personally, I didn't design it I just want to own it. And I usually hate modern anything.

Seeing the whole kitchen and pantry area makes it a bit more appealing for me, but I'm still not crazy about so much stainless steel. I will say that the range is to die for, because I've cooked on that same range and used it frequently at my sister's house. This is her in the photo, with her DH, and she'd kill me if she knew I was showing her kitchen when we were in the midst of making a holiday mess in it! You can see her range, it's marvelous to use, and very easy to clean. She has three ovens, plus a MW, so she can cook for a crowd when she needs to.

I agree with those that said it looks like a laboratory. I am not a fan of stainless steel appliances, so those don't do it for me. And with all those cabinets, etc. they still have to have 'stuff' all over the counters? Also not a fan of the light fixtures over the island - they look like streetlights hung upside down.

Would love to have all that counter space and those windows, tho!

I think it's quite lovely and an innovative take on standard black and white kitchen. The old fashioned inset cabs mixed with the stainless are quite lovely, and interesting to look at. The only thing I don't like about it is the range (Viking) which is a crap range. I'd rather see a lovely french range in there, or an aga in white would be to die for.

Nanny your sister has a nice kitchen and range. I love to see people that actually enjoy cooking.

Well, if someone is going to give me this kitchen, I am not going to look a gift horse in the mouth. I think it is very pretty. It looks utiltarian beautiful, but that's JMO.

I hate to cook, and rarely do so, so take this with a grain of salt, but I personally wouldn't want to spend any amount of time in this room, unless my SAD was acting up and I needed alot of light on me. It's cold feeling and reminds me of a school kitchen. Nanny - love your sister's range...it almost, *almost* makes me want to turn on a stove :O)

I do like the kettle on the stove.

I like it even more now that I have seen closeups and the butlers pantry is wonderful. It is to die for!
I don't know about the range, I dont have one as expensive as a Viking; I bow to Igloo expertise in ranges!

Igloochic, I have to bow to your expertise as far as cooking on various ranges. I just have a regular old Maytag gas range, and it does just fine for our daily needs. I am no chef, but I do like to cook.

So if the Aga is better for cooking, I trust your judgement. But appearance? I find them kind of homely - and I have seen them in person.

Igloochic - I'm certainly not an expert on ranges, just know that money is no object for my sister and she and her husband do a lot of cooking for her NJ church shelter program, cooking meals once a week for the homeless. The Viking is large enough, with it's two ovens and the third oven one she has, to accommodate the large pans they use to bake up tremendous quantities of food for this purpose.

When I've visited her I've enjoyed using the Viking and having enough burners to and ovens to prepare an entire holiday meal all at once. I was satisfied with my 5 burner Dacor gas cooktop at home until I used her Viking, but we just don't have the income to justify purchasing an Aga, or even a Viking, at this stage of our lives, sigh. I've heard that the Aga's are the professional's choice - but that's a luxury that we just can't afford or need this close to retirement. Would have loved to have one when I was younger and had a houseful of family at home to cook for!

DH and I aren't experts on ranges either.
We cook a lot of good food and some complicated recipes also.
But... we had no idea that the Viking range that we both worked long and hard to be able to afford and just absolutely LOVE is "crap". Nice.

Do you really think the owner has to worry about cleaning such a space? Me thinks someone else is doing it.

Sigh, I just had to come back and look again. I really do like this kitchen.
Perhaps Igloo has had a bad experience with Viking. There certainly has been a lot of dissing of them on the Appliance forum. They are ruthless over there. Just mention jennair and see the responses you get. ouch.
