sheetrock for first-time remodeler

I posted a message for Mike R. but computer maxed out in middle of registration process.

My husband and I are remodeling our bathroom ourselves mainly for lack of willing and/or skilled workers down here in Southern Louisiana. We are getting ready to sheetrock.

We plan to put cement Durock product around the tub but aren't sure how to make the transition to green board since the stud is situated at the edge of the tub, right where we transtion from one type of material to the other.I read in a book that we should not attach sheetrock at the edges of the boards.

Also, what kind of vapor barrier should we use and how do we install it?

Lastly, we plan to install ceramic tiles 13" square and I have heard that we should minimize the grout lines in order to make it look most like the marble tile it emulates. Can anyone recommend the best adhesive and grout type? Should we use the rough side of the cement board with that?

Thanks for your time and responses! Lis
