'Ditto' Susan's post. Most of the time, both nearby HD's sell the same, common plants, but if you happen to be there the right time, you could get lucky. :) And you surely did. I feel like running to HD to see if your plant is available. lol. It's lovely, Squidy. If yours is a Spath, I'd go for it. I'm not a Spath fan..have 3..two variegated, one green and not doing well because of my selfish neglect..gets watered, whenever, needs repotting, etc. take care of that cutie..Toni

Some of my mature tiger lilies produce bulbils and the bulbils from last year have also produced bulbils. So age must not have allot to do with it, why some produce them and others don't i don't know. Anyway if they have a sprout you can pop it off and plant now. sprout side up as it's the plant portion not a root coming out. The bulbils at present are getting their nutrients from where they sit in the axis, which is essentially their root segment. They will get to about the size of a regular pea, i suppose you could take them at snow pea size but, the more energy they have consumed from the mother plant the better, i would think. As to what they will do; the ones i planted last year got about 3 or so leaves in a staggered one leaf per level growth. This year some have gone on to regular leaf level formation which is 4 or so leaves per level of growth. Some however, have gotten say 8 to 13 single leaf sets, alternating what side of the plant they are on, which is nice would look really weird if they all grew in the same place per level. Most of those have produced bulbils in their one leaf per level. the ones that produced regular leaf sets have no bulbils, which is probably an energy thing, not like a few leaves from their first year in the ground gave them much energy to go on. Amount of root formation and how many leaves they had their first year is the determining factor i suppose , but i haven't dug any up to look at them, so we'll just assume it.

it is NOT a lily ... get that part out of your head ... daylily is a whole other family ... they will probably grow on blacktop with just a little plop of soil ... even down your way ... it is one of the hardiest.. most durable.. most abuse taking plant there is ... other than water its first year.. it probably never needs anything.. ever again ... though of course.. i have never tried such in the desert ... and I THINK ... they have 3 blooming periods.. meaning you can get plants for each.. and spread the bloom period somewhat .. [confirm that in the other forum ] i really appreciate.. you confirming in the best forum.. AND THEN COMING BACK AND TELLING US ... ken
