All that lovely color in the photos above, but I'm bringing a whiteout to the table. That's a blue barn beyond last year's sunflower stalks, but you can't tell in snow this heavy. No fun driving that day (Saturday).

Jiggs really wants to sit ALL of her body on Dean...but she will compromise!

Turns out that odd bird is a Shoebill from central Africa.

Hmmm.......it says Animal Planet rated the Shoebill as the #1 ugliest animal on earth. That's pretty extreme, but I have to admit there's something unsettling about those eyes . . .

I wonder what humans look like to him? Probably pretty wretched. :-)

OMG Casey, that's a bit of a shocker!

Since Shoebills are listed as fish eaters, I almost wonder if that is a Photoshopped photo. The duck looks a bit too "composed" and not terribly threatened. But who knows, weirder things have happened.

Thanks for the link Casey. So it looks like the stork wasn't really planning on making a meal of Donald, just offering some quick transit. :-)

What a fascinating bird! ... and ugly. I remember when I first saw it, I thought it was just a joke statue or something ... then it moved. Whoa.

I was quite frustrated because I could not get a good photo of it. Not usually a problem I experience but each picture I took of it, turned out overexposed looking even with some Photoshop help. Maybe I'll go back this summer with my new camera and try to get some better shots.
