Do you have or have you ever seen these? Studded tires for snow driving.

This big boy was in the pasture across from our house. This is rather unusual because they usual stick to the rivers and streams...

LOL Vicki, I assume they are not common where you are from? We have studded snow tires, I wouldn't drive without them. (only in the winter of course, we put summer tires on the rest of the year)

Karen...no, they aren't common in the desert. LOL However, they are common where I grew up. And in Montana. I hadn't seen them in a long time and my DH had never seen them, so I had to take a picture.

Studded tires are common up here too. I used to have them on my car when I had to drive 25 miles (one way) to work and back. If I remember right, there's only certain months you can have them on your car.

I was thinking about getting studs on my tires around Christmas because the roads around here were treachorous (sp) - it would have cost $85 per tire! I had no idea it was so pricey. I settled for 6 big boxes of cat litter for about $40 - gave me much better traction in my van.
