Holy smokes, can I have him? What a cutie.

It's a cute pic, but several things about the baby make me wonder about him.
Did it just wander up to you? He looks dehydrated. His eyes should be bright, his eyelids shouldn't be drooping, and his nose should be glossy. The area above his eyes shouldn't be so indented and the missing hair on his forehead is a problem. Above all, you shouldn't be seeing fawns in PA until mid/late March.
Please tell more about your encounter and if they little guy is still around.

First... This was last years picture... I was just driving down my road and he was standing in the middle of the road... I kinda thought he was just born...

Ooh, I agree this does not look like a good situation this poor little one is in. What's the status?

these pictures made me so sad. this fawn is obviously motherless. mama probably got shot or was hit by a car.
since it was a year ago and you did not write that you helped it im sure it died soon after. please if this ever happends again with such a sick looking fawn pick it up and bring it to the nearest vet, they will then determine wether or not it can be saved and place it with a re-habber.
true you cant save them all but being right there with it and taking pictures and then just driving off. i guess you didnt know it was in need of care

I don't know enough about deer to make an assessment, but I do know that sometimes people attempting to rescue young animals actually do the opposite. A mother may be in the area, but a person handles an animal he/she thinks is an orphan and actually makes matters worse. I guess it depends on the behavior. A fawn lying still in the grass should be left alone. I don't know about a fawn standing on a road.

if it doesnt look picture perfect then rescue it. this fawn looks half dead. you can see it is very dehydrated. if the mama was around it wouldnt be in the middle of the road almost looking for help. true people get excited and "rescue" animals that dont need help, but this is one fawn that needed help

a friend of mine found an unconscious deer (smallish) in the road, put it in her hatchback and went to a nearby ranger station. the rangers said NEVER do that! it could have woken up and, in it's panic, torn up the inside of the car, and/or hurt my friend. VERY sharp hoofs. min
