Sandy...I didn't know he knew...Did they tell him recently?

I was wondering if they would ever tell him...

I've heard of kids being very angry when they find out in their teens...I think that was a good thing...And he shouldn't ever feel that he wasn't wanted...because he know her and all of you and can feel how much you all love him...

Sandy, I have always said when I see pictures of Zachary I can see that he looks like you a bit and I only know you from pictures.

I too think it's a great idea to tell the kids the truth
I know I told mine although they couldn't contact their
birth mother until they were 18,it's not a shock then
if/when they find out.

How special that Zach and Caryn were together! I love reading all of your posts with them. Such a special story!

They have always told him he was adopted. They have many books that are/were age appropriate and read to him about adoption. They didn't want him to be told by someone else about his adoption. I think the part of being in Caryn's tummy is a recent one, and that Caryn was his bio mom. I think they just wanted all of it to be all 'matter of fact' for him.

He will start 'big school' (lol) in the fall...kindergarten.

I think Zachary will grow up with the knowledge that he is so loved by both families! I still get tears in my eyes when I read posts about him.

I can't believe 5 years has gone by already! Zach is so big and cute! It's so nice that everything worked out for both families and for Zach!

I too think kids should know they are adopted. They are especially picked! My mom has a friend that adopted 2 kids and has never told them. The "kids" are now in their late 30's, so I guess they think it's too late?! I always thought the truth would come out at some awful time, but not yet! The girl has had a rough time the past few years and I think if she found out, it would be the straw that broke the camels back in that relationship. Even sadder-she has a baby now, and her family/medical history isn't correct. To my knowledge they don't know too much about the bio parents? What if there was some problem that ran in the family??

Wow, Zach is sure growing up and is such a cutie! Looks like Caryn is holding him in the "picture grip" otherwise he'd be a blur. Zoom! I always wished I had just a tenth of the energy of little kids!

Sandy, Zachary looks so much like his mom and you. I'm glad he's been told all along. It saves so much pain later on. Like when/if not told, and he'd find out from someone else, there would be a loss of trust with the adoptive parents and anger toward the bio mom, for keeping it a secret.
My cousin gave up a baby girl 39 years ago, and while she was informed she was adopted (I don't know at what age) her parents don't know she's met my cousin, and more family members now. She doesn't want to hurt her adoptive mother.
It just saves so much hurt in the long run to be truthful and open about it. What better way to make it a loving happy event with double love coming to the baby.

Yes, Zach takes after Caryn ALOT!! Physically and mentally! LOL Caryn has OCD, and Zachary has a couple of the same tendencies! Sure makes Nature vs Nurture interesting! His parents are/were very aware of Caryn's 'quirks'. (It isn't that she has any Wild/weird ones...mostly with the way clothes feel!!) They have Soooo much more knowledge than what we did!

I would love to show you the pic of his whole family (I don't feel like I should)...it was completly in Gods hands to have this family....he looks so much like his mother!!! =)

What a cutie! I am so happy he was told early. My friend and neighbor never told her daughter that her dad wasn't her real dad...she found out at school from her friend who is in reality her half sister! Her friend and her share the same dad and she never knew it! Her half sister knew for years and when they were in junior high she told some friends and it got back to my friends daughter. They were 13 at the time and things have never been the same around their house. It destroyed the relationship between her and the dad that raised her since birth. Terrible resentment and it really put a strian on the whole famly. I think it's better to tell them young and let them grow with it. Zach is so lucky to have 2 families that can do this for him! He's such a cutie...looks like Caryn, I've always thought so.

They knew before Zach was born that they were going to tell him while he was growing up, so it would be just 'run of the mill' type thing. I am not sure how he reacted to everything, but Zach was at the table the mom & I were talking in the living room about it, and dad said from the kitchen about Zach knowing that he was in Caryn's tummy....end of room to end of room with Zach in the middle. Zach was messing with something and just said without even looking up...'yep, I know'. They are just such a wonderful couple and parents!!!

He sure grew up fast. Caryn is a beauty (and with perfect teeth). It's great Zach is growing up to accept naturally that he was adopted. You all have sure worked hard to make it work well for that sweet boy. Bless you all!

HE is sooo cute and I just think it's the most wonderful thing that two families are getting to love on Zachary!!
