Going to Des Arc tomorrow! (long one!)

Going down to my Ya Ya's friend's house to spend the day with her, her DD, SIL, and DGS. My friend, Angie's DH, kids and GKs are coming, too. Also my friend, Booger's kids and GKs from Texas. My other Ya Ya friend from Texas will be there, too, along with her DH.

For those of you who haven't heard me talk about Angie and Booger before - they're two of my closest, lifelong friends that have both passed away. Booger died in 2001 at age 52. She was expecting her first grandchild in Dec. and she passed away in Sept. Her GKs are now 6,4,3 and a new baby on the way. Angie died in February at age 58. Her GKs are now 4, 4, 2 and 3 months. All those Ya Ya babies need some loving and us three gals are just the ones to do it!

Wish me luck- I'm taking my two, also. Gonna be "kidded out" by Sunday! LOL

Yaya ~ I imagine there will be a lot of tears mingled with laughter. I hope you have a good time and please let Angie's dh know that many of us at KT think of him and hope he is doing well as far as moving on since her passing.

Any time is a good time to apply Compost tea. The time of day is not scientific/proven that I know of. I just personally feel evening is better. Theres really nothing you can do about the Chlorine in your city water/irrigation. Some of he microbes may be killed off, but plenty will still survive. It is good/recommended to de-chlorinate the water before brewing as you did. It gives the microbes a fighting chance. If your lawn is small and manageable, I recommend spreading compost by hand. But, for a large lawn, this could be back breaking. Thats why alot of people spray compost tea. Im not sure about the quality of compost you bought. I do know that the best compost needs a proper ratio of carbon-rich materials, or "browns," and nitrogen-rich materials, or "greens." Among the brown materials are dried leaves, straw, and wood chips. Nitrogen materials are fresh or green, such as grass clippings and kitchen scraps. All of which can be made in your back yard.

Thanks for all the birthday wishes, KTers! Thought I had already thanked you, but I looked and didn't find it. Quiet day around here. Twinkie's back is not great. Think we'll go later on this afternoon and eat and that's about it. Have gotten a lot of phone calls, birthday wishes and great cards. Received a neat photo album from a Ya Ya friend of mine in Houston. Nice birthday!! 58 is just a number. I'm glad to be still hangin' around! LOL

Thanks, everybody! So far it is a beautiful and snowy birthday here in Arkansas. Twinkie offered to take me out for lunch. I counter offered with a late breakfast. (He took the bait! LOL He knows I'm getting addicted to these flannel pajamas all day.) So far 60 feels just like 59 did. Fancy that??! LOL Happy Birthday, Pattico, my birthday twin!

Ginzhomestead, Yes. I went to three different yards. I had seen Bross blue polished in a kitchen display. I ended up seeing three lots of Bross blue polished and two lots of Bross blue leathered before I tagged my slab. (And that was after I drove my fabricator crazy with quotes for Tan Brown, Steel gray, and quartz lol) For us, it really came down to soapstone or the Bross blue leathered. The Bross blue had a similar look at a significantly lower price point and with tougher wear. Given our household, we thought our pets, kids, etc would take us past soapstone patina and into soapstone destruction. DH and I stayed up late getting all the doors (except the lazy Susan, which is going to require reading the instructions) and drawer fronts on. Since the electrician and plumber address coming soon, I'll go get dressed and save photo updates until the _appliances are in_. I may actually have a functional kitchen before the day is done!!!

We did have a very good time! Taco soup, chili and all the fixins'. About five kinds of cake, candy, Rice Krispie treats, etc.

Kids were all over playing on the computer, playing in the floor, dogs runnin' around everywhere. It was fun! LOL
