My babies are scared to death!

They've already started with the fireworks, BIG, LOUD ones. Any tips to settle them any? I have the TV loud, but they still hear them.

MY Rover is scared to death too...he pants and shakes,it's terrible! We just now gave him a benedryl to calm him down when the fireworks start soon.I don't know what else to do,except hold them and maybe cover them.I know it helps some if I cover Rover so he thinks he's hiding.Him and I lay on the couch under the cover and cuddle! LOL!

Fireworks started early here.
I'll soon be sleeping and won't hear the 12 fireworks celebrations :o)

I don't blame you for being concerned about the coyotes. We have coyotes in this area too. It is scarey when they get howling. Fortunately they aren't too close to the house where I live now. When I lived in VT they were right under the bedroom windows some nights. I refused to go out to the shed at night. I'm glad you found your leak. I came home this AM from a camping trip and discovered the pond only half full of water. I think the leak is in the stream, I moved the hose so now the water is flowing directly back into the pond. I put about 50 gals of fresh water in and will wait a day or two before I add more. Don't want to stress the poor fishes out any more than I have to. Anne

I find my worms in the lid when one of the following happens: 1. Too wet 2. Too much Food (causing it to get hot, note that anything above room temperature is hot and idicates too much food) Too little food, the worms are trying to find more. When its raining (they like the vibrations) Not enough bedding. The castings may are too strong for them to be comfortable in. Remedy all of the above by doing the opposite (you cant make it not rain of course). I also suggest putting damp newspaper (just fold up and moisten the weekend edition) neatly over the top of the beeding/food. Seems to keep them underneath the paper instead of under the lid. They should sort themselves out soon enough. But there are always some in the lid and the water collector. The adventurous ones. I note that "Worm Tea" is not the stuff that collects in the bottom tray. Thats just leftover water. Worm tea is a preparation of the compost/castings. Cheers Raphael

Well, I must not have walked under any ladders or had any black cats cross my path because boy do I feel lucky!! My seed packet has arrived with the most wonderful assortment of seeds. Are you sure it's not Christmas? Trading seeds is always fun, but with Alana leading the way, and everyones participation and fantastic seeds, this was the most fun trade ever. I have loved it all. It sounds like something happened to both parents. There are bird rescuers. Did you read the link on the home page here about what to do in an emergency. Hope it's not too late. I have had a male raise a batch of young ones and last year it was a female that raised a batch. I never have more than one batch a year here in Michigan.

for once our girls are not freaking out but we did close up the windows and sliding doors. we did power walk them at 6pm to make sure they would nap too. early celebrators have been going since 6pm est. but rain is on the way YEAH lol ~ liz

Sorry your babies are scared. We don't have local fireworks on this occasion, but when they do our big dogs try to hide under the bed.

We heard fireworks from about 11:45 to midniught, our poor Molly was scared. But she sleeps in our room year-round so she calmed down immediately after it stopped.

How'd they make it through last night? We gave Rover a benadryl to see if it helped and it did seem to.He was still a little scared but not near like he usually is.He wasn't panting at least.He did shake some and wanted to go to bed.We left him go to bed by himself and when it was over,he came back down.He's the biggest dog I have ad the biggest woose! LOL! The little ones don't even notice storms or fireworks.In fact Miss Emmie used to be my biggest chicken,and she kept running outside and barking at the fireworks! We have a doggie door and it was in a lot of use last nighgt! LOL!
