I always liked her website because she describes and gives some history on the heirloom varieties that she offers. Whoops, just checked the new website, and it is totally different. No more lengthy descriptions and history from the little I saw. Of the giants listed, I noticed that Hunt Competition is one high priced tomato - 6 seeds for $10! Whoa! I guess if you really want to breed your own, or grow the biggest in town, it is worth it. But, hey, I just wanna eat 'em. She also offers a couple of the Husky series - Husky Gold Select and Husky Red Dwarf - aren't these hybrids? Some just sound downright delicious, like Indian Dark Violet, Champagne Cherry, Cherokee Tiger Black Dwarf, Creme Brulee (my FAVORITE dessert), Hershey Boar (chocolate????? yum), Hunk Purple (just cuz I could use a good "hunk" in the garden). She also carries a good number of dwarf plants, too. Geez, I don't need any more tomato seeds either, but I want, I want, I want...... Susan

Pat, Most rural people know, of course, about catalytic converters starting fires because it is so common here. We have those kinds of fires here all the time. Just had one last week, and the folks lost a brand-new Ford Expedition....the catalyltic converter set the grass on fire and the grass then burned up the Expedition. I think they live here, so am surprised they drove out into a field in these dry conditions. Sometimes I think that folks get busy and just forget. The fires we're having here are big and bad. Bad enough that it seems like every day they're paging out all 15 departments in our county to one fire. Our best chance of stopping a grassfire and keeping it from morphing into a wildfire is to hit it early and often. Most of our fires this week have gotten down into rocky canyons that are hard to access. Today's was in a wildlife management area so wild and thickly overgrown that we had to send a guy up in a helicopter to find it....we could see it from the ground but couldn't get to it. It was a long hard day. In the past week, fire activity here has just exploded. We're still a couple hundred calls away from having our busiest year ever, but at the rate we're going, this one may rank way up there. I am so very tired and am headed off to bed and hoping the fire pagers don't go off tonight. Dawn

I don't know the size of my service, but since I have an electric dryer it can handle at least one 240v appliance...everything else is either gas or 12ov circuitry. When I mapped mine--a multi-day chore with two people and a radio--I found things on opposite sides of the house on the same circuit, and normally at least one ciruit per room, the only exceptions seem to be the upstairs bath and attic, which have one circuit each. The bath has only outlets in the light fixtures, but there is an outlet to the left of the door--out in the hall! The wiring visible in the basement is almost entirely romex, except for one which goes under the center beam to connect two outlets in neighboring rooms--that is a very heavy black cable, either cloth or rubber, not sure which--but it has one big wire in it from what I can recall. Fortunately, neither outlet is used. It was too insane looking at my map with outlets and lights drawn in and numbered to label the circuit breakers, so I keep the map on a shelf next to the washer where I can easily find it. I am still puzzled by the wire which went to my now gone garage--there were three bare wires running out there from a metal conduit running by the back porch and they connected to a sort of 3 armed octopus thing at the house and at the garage end. Inside the garage there was an old rotary switch for the lights, which had been replaced with romex wire at some later date.

I caught that while channel surfing....she was very good, I also caught that man & woman magic act where she started in a box while he held the drapes, then he went behind the frapes and almost instantly, the drapes dropped and she was standing there & he was in the box. I'm not a big fan of 'magic' acts, but this was was something. Dottie
