My Chemo buddy - Jenni's latest creation

Here is my little Chemo Buddy that Jenni designed for me. She remembered that I collect trolls. It says "Cancer Sucks" on the head band and "chemo" on the shoulder bag. The bag opens and has a little note from Jenni in it. She says it's a boy. I'm not sure how to tell a trolls gender, but I'll take Jenni's word.

Now I need to come up with a name for him before I take him to San Antonio to meet my chemo nurse.

He's just precious and that was soooo darned nice of Jenni!! between you and this little guy, I know you're gonna open up a can of whip A** and kick that dreaded C's butt!!

runktrun, what great posts and pictures. Somehow, whenever I do volunteer work I feel like I'm repaid in greater benefits. I look forward to the day when I can do volunteer gardening. We moved to this house in 2007 and began total renovation (kitchen ell was ripped out to the studs). Our son and his wife bought our old house just 2 miles away and didn't want any of the plants. I hurriedly transplanted a lot of plants to a temporary bed where most of them still reside. The new addition of a screened porch is on hold and that's exactly where I want to do the most landscaping. Since the holding bed wasn't prepared properly, any bare ground was quickly filled in with wild sorrel and misc grasses. The vegetable garden is plagued by creeping jenny as well as 'witch grass' which has underground runners. We also have goldenrod and queen anne's lace. This year, in addition to the vegetable beds, I worked on a shady garden between the new garage and the old barn. My husband built some brick steps and placed rocks to terrace the steep slope. The top of the garden gets a fair amount of sun. further down the slope is semi-shade. Transplanted hostas are doing great as well as other plants. The north side of the barn (part of our future backyard and screen porch area) was cleared of nasty weeds. Ferns are doing well against the barn but I had higher hopes for the rest of that area. Why didn't I plant buckwheat as soon as it was de-weeded? It is now grown up to grass. We'll have to work on that. I have more hosta and lilies to transplant next year once I get that area properly prepared. We are about to tackle renovating a circular bed left by former people. I added some new plants but the area was already infested with weeds so it was difficult to keep up with it. 4 large old hostas were removed. It looked nice in the spring but next step is just to rip everything out, mound up the bed and make sure as many witch grass roots as possible are removed. It helps that my husband has a small backhoe. I vow to do a better job edging the beds. It helped once we removed the rock edging that merely made it more difficult to mow close to the bed, requiring more work for the weed wacker. I love garden tours. This year we made a special vacation to Maine so we could go on the Camden House and Garden tour. We loved one house in particular, with more modest gardens and wonderful whimsical folk art. While it is nice to see huge gardens that require a staff of horticultural experts, I'd rather see gardens that the average homeowner can manage. Unfortunately, mother nature rewards my lack of deadheading and weeding by sending lovely birds to enjoy the insects and seeds. Last week during lunch we watched a bluebird and a goldfinch share the small granite bird bath. My husband has promised to build some official bird houses for next year to encourage more birds. We hand one feeder and suet near the kitchen window where I have planted a compact viburnum and creeping cotoneater for the birds to enjoy. As soon as we can figure out where to put it, I have my eye on a Adams crabapple which is currently on sale at a local nursery. We have a white house so I want a dark pink flowering tree. I suggested the name for your troll but I certainly don't deserve any credit. Tonto always called the Lone Ranger - Kemo Sabe which was supposed to mean 'faithful friend' in his native language. It just seemed to fit your troll perfectly. I'm so glad he's been your loyal companion, he's taking good care of you and Jammer too.

I have been there with you. I think radiation is the worst. Never have been drunk. Whoo! That must be some treatment. You are very brave but you don't know it when you are in the middle of it. Each year on Christmas Day I have an open house for 150 people who have had cancer with me.This year 195 are coming. Cancer buddies are friends forever. They bring their families too. Always new stories. I'll have to tell yours. Hope this passage passes very soon. You do sound like you are getting a lot of love. I hope you can get some exercise in when your energy is up. Do you get together with other cancer patients? Like the rest of the KT people I will keep tabs on you. Keep up the stories so I know where you are. Hugs, Ellie

Sealavender - congrats on your new little bird! He is a cutie! I have three of these little guys and they are so endearing. If you dont have much time to spend with him, you might consider another budgie so he has a pal. These guys travel in large flocks and really crave the company of other parakeets. My first parakeet (Pip) was found outside by a friend. Eventually, I bought him a buddie (Sky) and the difference in his personality was amazing! It as clear he was craving a friend. Since budgies are very active animals, I bought them a double flight cage. They use every inch of that cage. Pip passed away recently, after 8 years. I found Petuniae on craigslist, living in a very tiny cage and with a smoker to keep Sky company. Petuniae is a boy, but because of his mutation he looks like a girl. Luke was found flying around town (I named him after Luke Skywalker as he was flying the galaxy). Luke wasnt in great condition, but boy is he a cheeky little fella now. He is adorable. How about Kemo Sabe for a name? Isn't that what Tonto used to call the Lone Ranger? I always thought it meant faithful friend.

Finally he got there!!!! I swear the mail gets worse all the time!
I thought you might like to have a little friend to take with you to your treatments.
Finding trolls is not so easy you know....but I was determined!
I hope he brings you lots of luck Maryann as you go through this journey!

Jenni, I had to run to the other room when I read your post to check out his butt. I hadn't noticed the tattoo! That is too cute!

I have ever tattooed a heart on a trolls butt! LOL LOL

I'm so glad he finally made it to TX, MaryAnn! Jenni told me what she was doing and he's just the cutest, cleverest thing and I was sure you would like him. He's so darn cute, how could you not? Chemo Sabe, that's funny!

YaYa, if I remember correctly.....my cat, Just Galore, was named by you and FlamingO! I was totally clueless when it came to Just Galore! BTW, my sweet little kitty always sits on top of my monitor and watches me carefully while I type. She hasn't made any motorcycle trips in quite some time.
