I had planned of left overs from last night but there is not enough left. But everyone really enjoyed dinner last night!
So, I have some left over chile verde to go over some rice.
We had a huge brunch this morning......ham, potato pancakes and sauteed apples with cinnamon.
We have some lemon brownies, fudge, oatmeal chocolate chip cookies and English toffee for dessert.

Steak Oscar with shrimp instead of crab. Son cooked everything to perfection! I made the hollandaise sauce. Plus the fresh lemon pepper green beans with toasted almonds. AND ta da carrot bake. It was a Mr Food recipe that you serve along with the veggie. Delightful!

No sit down dessert, just a lot of nibbles. which I made. Ate those by the fire and watched The Killing of Lincoln, narrated by Tom Hanks.

We fixed a ham last night, so we had ham & biscuits for breakfast. That was our big meal of the day..we have grazed on the ham all day. I bought several different breads for sandwiches. Tony and I finished off last night's Low Country Boil for our dinner..

Yum, Terri!!! I know that a lot of people make prime rib for Christmas when Thanksgiving was so recent.

Most Canadians do the traditional turkey, as Thanksgiving was in Oct, and we're ready to have it again! LOL

Our good friend and his girlfriend invited us to his house for turkey dinner. His sister and niece and his girlfriend's mother was also there. I brought mashed potatoes that were mixed with sour cream and cream cheese and slow-cooked dressing. Turkey, brussels sprouts mixed with almonds and craisins, coleslaw, my potatoes and dressing, cold shrimp and shrimp sauce, sliced veggie.

It was a good day.

I worked so I brought in a Marie Callender (sp?) frozen lasagna that Lauren baked for me yesterday when I was working. It wasn't great. I like my sauce better, which isn't full of sugar or corn syrup whatever was making it so sweet. yuck. Also had a little buffalo chicken dip, cheese ball and broccoli casserole someone brought in. All those things were really good.

Hot Pastrami Sandwich on Rye Bread with lots of mustard & sliced dill pickles (at home). Unfortunately forgot to put beer in the refrigerator to top it off.

For dessert I made Banana Pudding with vanilla wafers, all home-made, including the cookies.

Not traditional, but all very good.

Kfca, well not keen on Pastrami and Rye..but nanner pudding is a fav around here! I too often make it ALL from scratch..in fact the vanilla cookies I make are a hubby favorite for just the cookie jar!

I haven't made it in a while I think I shall soon..thanks for the memory jog.

Kathleen, I don't usually like frozen lasagnas for the same reason..but Safeway has one that is really good..party size Safeway Select Meat or Cheese no ingredients that don't belong. We call it Kellan food..I bake one of those and he'll eat on it all day for about three days. Lol...

If you don't have a Safeway, check the labels of the other brands in your store, might find one like it.

Jas, that sounds like a great meal too. My husband doesn't love turkey..so even if we had 2 months in between..he'd request roast beast for Christmas..:D

Any left? I made a wonderful 3 cheese mac not so long ago with LOTS of leftover ham dices.

I would love it..well I think I would. I have never tried making potato pancakes..but I don't think I've met a potato anything I didn't like..lol...

Well my meal was yumm..made the beans for the first time this way..and um yeah those are going to be a regular addition to the monthly menu.

No room for dessert.....yet...

Tea and toast again for us.....booooo. but I'm at the point where your meals ALL sound good to me! Seriously delicious.

Terri does your bean recipe call for a bit of vinegar? My brown sugar/green bean dish does. Just a whiff.

Our rib roast is languishing in the freezer and might turn out to be the epiphamy roast, lol. I opened the chest freezer yesterday and told it (the roast) to be patient.

Just hubby and I for dinner, and we had salad, salad and more salad topped off with cookies. I fixed a box of Betty Crocker Southwest style pasta salad. Added taco seasoned chicken strips, salsa, corn and black beans to it. Served it over a bed of mixed greens and topped with shredded cheese and crumbled corn chips.

For dessert later I had stirred up an orange buttermilk Jello salad on Tuesday evening to go with chocolate cookies and/or brownies that a neighbor gave us. Love the combination of chocolate with that orange jello salad. Yum, yum.

We had our Goddaughter's son, Tony, over for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. He is 19 and in the Army stationed at the Fort here. He couldn't get home to his family for the holiday.

Bobby and Amber came for breakfast, we had French toast, bacon, sausage, juice, coffee and Wassel. Presents were opened afterwards. Bobby and Amber had someplace else to go for dinner.

We had friends arrive for the afternoon. I also made the high heat prime rib, which was delicious and so easy to make. Along with that we had mashed potatoes, spinach casserole, rolls and for dessert squash pie and apple pie with vanilla ice cream.

Today I am beat and plan on doing nothing but reading and probably take a nap. Tony's parents were thrilled that he came to our house and we really enjoyed having him. He is leaving tomorrow with his friend (who is driving) headed to Texas to spend New Years with his family.

Rhizo, no, no vinegar...but that would be good..little sweet tart..for me..not the others..

Gaz, salads and desserts..that's balanced..I wouldn't mind that..

I said the same thing...I am taking Thursday off...I even set the coffee maker up last night..I did stir in sugar and cream to two mugs of coffee...but other than heat up some left overs or eating pies..I am not cooking today..

We did baked ham, scalloped potatoes,steamed veggies, and( thanks to Glenda comming to my rescue, with her recipe) coleslaw..lots of extra munchies,homemade candies, cookies, etc... We did not have a formal set down dinner, as was kind of a open house with all comming at diffrent times.. and not seating for all at once, so we also kind of grazed all day.
Food turned out great, and a good time had by all !

We had about 26 people and served turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, roasted sweet potatoes, cornbread dressing, glazed carrots, corn, green salad, fresh cranberry salad and rolls. Others brought different casseroles and desserts, but I didn't eat any of them so I don't know what they were. I've washed all the dishes except the turkey roaster and the dressing pan this morning. My hands look like emery boards. I don't know why I never remember to wear gloves to wash dishes.
