My favorite or all favorite cruising desserts and I now make it at home. Easy Chocolate Lava Cakes Dark chocolate may be substituted for semisweet in this recipe. These can be made at least a day ahead least one day ahead. Pour the mixture Pour the mixture into ramekins, cover and refrigerate. Be sure to bring to room temperature 30 minutes before baking. I also had a couple of baked and prepared ones left over, and I left them in the ramekins and reheated them in the microwave for 15 seconds, and they worked great! Prep: 15 minutes Cook: 15 minutes Yield: 4 servings Ingredients 4 ounces semisweet baking chocolate or 3/4 cup semisweet chocolate morsels (I used Ghirardelli for both) 1/2 cup butter (1 stick) 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1 cup confectioners sugar 2 eggs 1 egg yolk 6 tablespoons all-purpose flour Preparation 1. Preheat oven to 425F. Lightly grease 4 (8-ounce) ramekins (custard cups or souffle dishes). Place on a baking sheet. 2. Microwave chocolate and butter in a large microwaveable bowl on High 30 seconds or until butter is melted. Whisk until chocolate is completely melted. Whisk in vanilla and confectioners sugar until well blended. Whisk in eggs and yolk. Stir in flour and pour batter evenly into prepared custard cups. 2. Bake 13 minutes or until sides are firm but centers are soft. Let stand 10 minutes. Carefully loosen edges with a knife. Invert cakes onto serving plates and sift powdered sugar over the top. Serve immediately. 13 minutes works perfect and I leave it in the ramekins, as does Carnival and serve. I make mine the day before and let it sit out the baking day before putting in the oven. Pork Tenderloin Teriyaki Pork tenderloin, one of the leanest cuts of pork, is delicious marinated, then grilled just until moist and juicy. 2 tbsp sodium-reduced soy sauce 2 tbsp sherry I tbsp vegetable oil 1 tbsp finely chopped gingerroot 1 tsp granulated sugar 1 clove garlic , minced 2 pork tenderloin Combine soy sauce , sherry , oil, ginger, sugar and garlic. Place pork in a plastic bag, pour marinade over pork. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours. Reserve marinade , place pork on greased grill over medium -high heat . Grill for 18 to 25 minutes. or till meat thermometer registers 160 for medium or 170 for well done . turning occasionally brushing with marinade during the last 10 minutes. Remove from grill: tent with foil let stand for 5 minutes . Slice diagonally into thin slices Makes 6 servings. You may also cook the tenderloin in the oven on a baking sheet in a 350 degree oven for 40 to 50 minutes. If meat comes straight from the refrigerator. For meat at room temperature time will be less.

I gave this to my DD who is starting a baking business and her first customer loved it and has committed to being one of her first customers. DH loves Angel Food Cake which I find to be too much sugar and rubbery. This one is almost AF cake-like. We used our garden raspberries as they were available.Sorry it is so long. Chiffon Cake with Strawberries and Cream Martha Stewart Living, June 2012 Bake this cake in a tube pan that is 9 1/2 inches in diameter by 4 1/2 inches deep. Martha Stewart Living, June 2012 Prep Time 30 minutes Total Time 3 hours Yield Serves 12 Ingredients: For the Cake 2 1/4 cups cake flour (not self-rising) 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar, divided 2 1/4 teaspoons baking powder 3/4 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup safflower oil 7 large egg yolks plus 9 large egg whites 3/4 cup whole milk 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar 1 whole vanilla bean, split and scraped, or 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract For the Berries and Cream 2 pounds strawberries, hulled and halved or quartered (about 5 cups), plus more for serving 1/2 cup granulated sugar 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice Pinch of salt 2 cups cold heavy cream 1/4 cup confectioners' sugar, plus more for sprinkling Directions Make the cake: Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Whisk together flour, 3/4 cup granulated sugar, the baking powder, and salt. Whisk together oil, egg yolks, and milk in a large bowl. Whisk flour mixture into egg-yolk mixture. Beat egg whites with a mixer on high speed until frothy. Add cream of tartar and vanilla seeds or extract, and beat until soft peaks form. Gradually add remaining 3/4 cup granulated sugar, beating until stiff, glossy peaks form, about 5 minutes. Whisk one-third of the egg-white mixture into batter. Gently but thoroughly fold in remaining egg-white mixture with a rubber spatula. Transfer batter to tube pan. Bake until top of cake springs back when touched, 52 to 55 minutes. Let cool upside down (over a bottle or on tube-pan feet) 1 hour. Make the berries and cream: While cake is baking and cooling, combine strawberries, granulated sugar, lemon juice, and salt, and let sit, stirring occasionally, 1 hour. Just before assembling, beat cream and confectioners' sugar until medium peaks form. Slide a paring knife around edges of tube and side of pan; release cake. Cut cake horizontally into 3 layers with a serrated knife. Transfer bottom layer to a cake plate or platter. Spread with half the berries, and drizzle with juices. Spread half the whipped cream over berries, then top with middle cake layer. Spread with remaining berries and whipped cream. Top with remaining cake layer. Refrigerate cake 1 hour. Sprinkle with confectioners' sugar, and serve with berries.

Chicken with Tomatoes and Olives (Real Simple) I love olives with chicken, and the reviews on this were all excellent. 1 lemon 2 pints grape tomatoes 1 head garlic, cloves separated 1 cup pitted kalamata olives, halved 8 sprigs fresh thyme 2 tablespoons olive oil 1 3-pound chicken, cut into 8 pieces kosher salt and black pepper 1/2 cup dry white wine Heat oven to 425 F. Using a vegetable peeler, remove strips of zest from the lemon. (Reserve the lemon.) In a large roasting pan, toss the tomatoes, garlic, olives, thyme, and lemon zest with 1 tablespoon of the oil.Nestle the chicken, skin-side up, among the vegetables and drizzle with the remaining tablespoon of oil. Season the chicken and vegetables with 3/4 teaspoon salt and 1/2 teaspoon pepper. Roast until the chicken is cooked through, 35 to 40 minutes. Remove the chicken and squeeze the juice from the lemon into the roasting pan and add the wine. Gently stir, scraping up any bits stuck to the pan.

Yes the silver icicles,I have a story to tell,One year I must have been 11 years old .My parents called me into the living room,we had company.Aunt & Uncle,Uncle Louie had this laugh just him..you know.Well my mother handed me 2 boxes,i opened the one.I was so humiliated.A training bra,I could hear everybody laughing,my dad said its for your bee stings,Uncle Louie said wouldnt bandaids be cheaper.I was sooo embarassed,never forgot it.They got a good laugh over that.

Here are a few....I did these up and emailed my brothers and sisters a couple of years ago.

This was 1968. I'm the sad looking girl, jealous of my baby sister?

I remember when this picture was taken. It was 1969 and we were visiting my aunt. For some reason I did not want to have my picture taken, another sad face.

A happier face here, I am in blue holding a doll and a book.

These pictures are wonderful!
I was looking for one of me on Santa's lap with a black eye but I can't find it. I had fallen on ice at school and my Mother had to come and get me. She took me to Gage Park in Hamilton that day to see the reindeer and Santa at Etons LOL..... with a black eye.

This pic is Christmas 1969. We had moved from Canada to California in 1968 and my older siblings stayed in Canada. My brother was going to University and that Christmas Eve, the doorbell rang and when I answered it was my big brother Jack dressed as Santa. I was so excited to see him and he talked my folks into buying me a guitar that year.... 15 yrs old, Cher bangs and a guitar that I only learned to play "Blow'in in the Wind" on. LOL

Thanks for the memories Miss Glenda..... Oh and I love your dolls. That's a wonderful picture!

I can't put any old pictures on my computer. The scan feature on my printer isn't working. But, I have a little Christmas story. In 1955, when I was 4 and my brother was 2, it was the first Christmas in our new house. I got a really great monkey (I still have him) that I loved from the minute I got it. My brother started crying because he wanted my monkey and my mom made me let him play with it for TWO WEEKS until he tired of it!! I was so mad and I have never let my brother forget it!!! LOL He still wants to see Monkers when he comes into town for Christmas!!

These are all great pictures. I remember, back in the 50's, you could buy icicles made of lead. Nobody died.

I have thought and thought and I don't recall a single picture taken at Christmas time with my family. Probably because they couldn't even afford film for the camera.

There's a few taken later by my sis with her family.

While living in Hawaii we had a teenager who was a Viet Nam refugee living with us. Her name was Tammy and she was such a great kid and a joy to have around. This is a picture of her hugging me for her gifts on Christmas morning back in 1979.

Top two are from Christmas 1973, I was 6 months old. I was between 2 and 4 in the third picture- I LOVED my Little People toys- the hotel even had a bathroom with a toilet seat the flipped up and down, lol. the fourth one is when I was about 8. My Granny made my cousin and I ceramic dolls- I still have mine (packed up since we have been in WV waiting on me to get another cabinet)- my cousin broke hers so I have the one and only and am ever so proud of that doll. My Great-Granny is holding my cousin- Great Granny Ray lived to be almost 102.

I'll try to find some taken by my sister with her family.

Glenda, your doll looks just like the one I got for Christmas in 1942, still have her and her original dress, and bonnet and blanket. Shoes and socks have gotten lost over the years.

I'm not sure just where all the old old pictures are at the moment, so thought I'd share one from 6 years ago. This would have been the last Christmas before my mom passed away. We couldn't manage to move her to take her out any longer (even with multiple people helping) so we took Christmas to her at the Senior Home. This photo is with 3 of my nieces. The girls are close together in age, so we have lots of pictures of all three of them with Grandma over the years. This was Christmas 2004.
